01:02only on December 20 that year, yet some of the activities listed by Duterte's office took place
01:07from December 13 to 19. The prosecution points this out during the direct examination of prosecution
01:13witness, State Auditor Cailin May del Campo, at Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial on
01:18Tuesday, August 11. When the Commission on Audit issued a notice of suspension over the OVP's
01:23confidential spending, the OVP defended the disbursements by citing activities listed before
01:29the funds were withdrawn. The list was part of the OVP's March 13, 2024 response to the December 13,
01:352023 notice of suspension issued by the COA against the agency.

02:09We confirmed that a complaint for grave threats against Vice President Sara Duterte was filed today,
02:14August 11, 2026. This is the same probe handled by the National Bureau of Investigation and the
02:20same grave threats allegations in Duterte's impeachment. The filing of the case against Duterte means DOJ
02:26prosecutors found prima facie evidence enough to ensure the case would lead to a guilty verdict.
02:31Martinez adds, the inciting to sedition case was dismissed. Duterte's legal team confirms the
02:37filing of the cases and says they anticipated and prepared for this outcome.

02:44Given these serious legal issues, the Vice President will exercise all available legal remedies in due course.
02:52The Department of Public Works and Highways asks for P107.4 billion to fund flood control projects
02:58in 2027. This a year after the government scrapped funding for such projects amid a corruption scandal.
03:05Acting Budget Secretary Kim De Leon explains the funds are meant to support ongoing flood control projects.
03:26De Leon also points out that flood control projects require spending beyond their initial
03:31construction costs as some facilities come with recurring operating expenses. The DPWH earlier
03:37removed P252 billion worth of locally funded flood control projects from the 2026 National
03:42Expenditure Program or NEP following the President's directive. The move comes after the government
03:48uncovered substandard and ghost flood control projects. De Leon adds, the DPWH now ensures NEP
03:54projects have clear locations and corresponding programs of work to prevent ghost projects.
04:01The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reports at least 19 people died due to the
04:06combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon, Tropical Depression Luis and Tropical Storm Maymay.
04:1212 of the recorded deaths are in Benguet due to landslides and 4 people died in Rizal and 3 in
04:17Batangas.
04:1915 people are also injured and 4 were reported missing. So far, the government has provided 73.5
04:25million pesos in assistance. Meantime, the Department of Education reports 5 young students were among those
04:31who died after a landslide struck Barangay Guisad Surong in Baguio City. Those who died in the tragedy
04:36were two Grade 7 students from Guisad Valley National High School, a Grade 3 student and a Grade 4 student
04:42from Bonifacio Elementary School, and a student under the alternative learning system. On Sunday evening,
04:47August 9, 13 people were buried by thick mud and debris as the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat battered areas in
04:54Luzon.
04:56At least 111 people were killed after a powerful earthquake struck Western Colombia Monday, August 10.
05:03The 7.4 magnitude quake toppled buildings across several cities, damaging hospitals and infrastructure
05:09and trapping people beneath the rubble. The quake struck just days after Abelardo de la Espriella was
05:14sworn in as president. The new administration is thrust into its first major crisis, with memories still
05:20fresh of devastating twin earthquakes in neighboring Venezuela in June. De la Espriella says,
05:25preliminary reports indicate at least 111 dead and 87 injured, with dozens of collapsed buildings
05:30and damaged homes. Colombia's Geological Service says it was the strongest earthquake recorded in
05:36the country in the 21st century. Choca Governor Nubia Carolina Cordoba says 12 people were killed and
05:4284 injured in the largely rural area. The heaviest casualties appeared concentrated in Risaralda,
05:48part of Colombia's coffee-growing region. Pereira suffered extensive damage,
05:52with rescue workers continuing to search collapsed buildings for survivors.
