00:00Come with me behind the scenes for a day at Winter Castle, ahead of the Royal Windsor Horse Show for
00:042026, as a journalist covering the royal family.
00:07We started off the day at the Guards Polo Club, which as you can see was opened by Her Majesty
00:12the Late Queen in 2009.
00:13We then headed to the Royal Box and had the opportunity to dine like the royals.
00:18First up was this foraged pine needle focaccia and cultured butter, which was so delicious.
00:22We then had tortellini using ingredients from the Windsor farm shop, followed by lamb.
00:26For dessert, it was honey cake with macerated strawberries and hung yoghurt, which I've never had before.
00:31After lunch, I got to look around and loved these amazing pictures of the Queen and Prince Philip, plus their
00:36granddaughter Zara Tindall.
00:38This amazing azalea was even grown in the royal greenhouse.
00:41Here's more of what it's like inside and the view of the polo fields from the balcony. It was such
00:45a gorgeous day.
00:47Finally, we went for a carriage ride through the private grounds of Windsor, which was so peaceful, though sadly we
00:52didn't get to see any royals this time around.
00:54We reached the end of the long walk with views of Windsor Castle, and of course, we got to pop
00:59some champagne and I got to meet our incredible carriage horses, Ebby and Arga,
01:03and interview showjumpers Jack Whittaker and Joe Stockdale before heading back.
01:07The Royal Windsor Horse Show is now in its 83rd year and has King Charles as its patron and Prince
01:12Edward as its president.
01:14This year, it runs from the 14th to the 17th of May.
