00:00I've got a bit of a story to tell you about my concussion, which might also explain why I was
00:05a bit offline in June.
00:08So right at the very end of May, I was walking just outside my house on a public footpath and
00:14I tripped over a tree root, which I didn't see.
00:18And I went smash here on the tarmac path and I was unconscious.
00:27I can't remember what happened then, but I do know that an ambulance came and I was taken to the
00:34BRI, the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
00:37By the way, I also know that they were playing the final countdown in the ambulance on the way.
00:45It's another story that did make me laugh.
00:48And discharged the next day, massive vomiting, all the bad signs, straight back into hospital.
00:58They were wonderful.
01:00The ANE did all the CT scans and everything.
01:03Out again.
01:06I had the biggest black eye or bruises all down my face for three or four weeks.
01:14But what it did leave me with, after about two or three weeks, was dizziness.
01:18So I felt as though I was kind of walking on a moving ship, you know, like sort of knocking
01:24into the wall a little bit.
01:27And when I was in bed, when I put my head back on the pillow, I'd be like, whoa, the
01:32room's spinning.
01:34So I thought, I've got to sort this.
01:36Anyway, this is all about how a wonderful young woman called Sophie has sorted it for me.
01:43And it's something called the Epley technique.
01:46I am not a doctor.
01:47I am not advising people about this, but I'm just telling you what's happened to me.
01:51Sophie, she's at Blue Sky down at Bristol Harbour.
01:56And it's a technique called the Epley technique.
01:58And it's when you have what's called BBPVs.
02:03It's all about the inner ear and this little sort of sack of crystals that gets dislodged.
02:09And she puts it back together again, basically.
02:12And it's all very simple.
02:13You know, like massage bed, the doctor's bed kind of thing.
02:16You sit up right on that with your legs sticking out.
02:19You look at her and she holds you, but sort of throws you back.
02:24And when she did it the first time, I thought I was falling off the edge of the earth.
02:29I really did.
02:31And apparently my eyes are going like that, you know, like in a cartoon.
02:35She holds you, she puts you back, does it again.
02:37And I, after the first session, I would say 95% of it went.
02:42I've had three sessions with her and I'm now discharged.
02:46Ooh, matron.
02:48And I couldn't be happier.
