00:07just rounding off a visit by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. I was one of just a handful of
00:13media
00:14travelling with the couple over the last three days. Well we've packed an awful lot in. We
00:20started off in Lisbon before moving to Porto where this morning they collected the keys to the city
00:29which is a great honour. It's only been bestowed on a few people in the last five years including
00:34President Emmanuel Macron. In Lisbon they brought the city to a standstill as they enjoyed a tram ride
00:41and went for a walk through one of the iconic parks. Sophie showed her humorous side and she
00:49avoided getting run over. She was about to step out and realised there's a tram coming and said she
00:56wasn't going to argue with the tram and there was a lot of laughter throughout actually and although
01:01there were serious moments on this trip there was also a really warm easy rapport both between the
01:08couple and between the people they met. They had a really warm welcome here and people seemed genuinely
01:13excited and happy to see them. At a garden party at the British Ambassadors residence in Lisbon
01:22they met representatives of charities, British charities that are operating here in Portugal
01:28and are run by members of the expat community and that's a really lovely event and
01:34and people were very happy to see them there. We also went to the Batala Monastery which is the final
01:43resting place of King Zhao and Queen Philippa who was English and the couple married more than 600 years ago
01:54and were known as Portugal's power couple
01:56and actually changed the course of Portuguese history. Their children became known as the illustrious generation who
02:06explored the world and put Portugal on the map. They rounded off the visit today with a visit to Graham's
02:16vineyard in Porto where they baptised at Barrel of Mine
02:20which is a fun ending to the trip. One of the things that I really noticed because I haven't travelled
02:28with Edward and Sophie before
02:30and I found them very impressive. I particularly found Sophie impressive when she gave a speech at NATO. It was
02:44a mock NATO conference for students who were studying international relations.
02:49She spoke really passionately about the United Nations Women in Peace and Security Initiative which she's been involved with for
02:56the last few years
02:57and the women she met. She took questions from the students and was very passionate about ending sexual violence in
03:07war zones which is one of her big passion projects
03:12and it was so impressive to see her just speak really eloquently for 10-15 minutes with no script
03:20so that was a really interesting moment. All round the trip has been a really interesting one, a really successful
03:28one
03:29and I think giving us a glimpse of a couple we don't really see enough of so looking forward to
03:37seeing more of them in the future.
