00:00How are you doing tonight?
00:02Good, I'm very excited. I haven't seen any of this.
00:06The ladies look absolutely magnificent.
00:08I'm just looking out there, I'm getting lost in how well the women look today.
00:12Amazing.
00:14But I haven't seen any of this.
00:15They've seen it a couple of times, so I'm very excited to pop my cherry on how to get to
00:22heaven from Belfast.
00:24And what does it feel like to be on the set of Derry Girls?
00:27Did you have any kind of nerves to live up to some, like the Derry Girls?
00:31What do you mean?
00:32What did it feel like being on the set of Derry Girls?
00:34No, sorry, I meant on the set of the Derry Girls writer.
00:39Well, I was on set of Derry Girls.
00:40I played a fantastic, unhinged motherfucker called Mad Stab, which is a great character name.
00:49And this is my third project in a row to work with Lisa McGee,
00:53who I think is one of the country's great modern day writers, script writers.
01:01She's amazing.
01:02She's unbelievable at building characters that you can just fall in love with.
01:09And Derry Girls was a masterpiece.
01:11And I think it's certainly, look, my experience, having not watched this show,
01:15all I can tell you is I was at the read-through, the table read.
01:19And the table read was so extraordinary, one of the best I've ever been to.
01:23And I feel very uncomfortable on a table read that you could have shot the table read and aired it.
01:28It was that good.
01:28The chemistry between the leading ladies, those girls, is extraordinary.
01:33The acting chops on those girls is extraordinary.
01:38And I know the story has Lisa's DNA all over it.
01:43And it's just a privilege to be invited back.
01:46I always say the only thing better than working with people you admire and admire her, I do,
01:51is being invited back to work with them again and again.
01:54And like I said, this is my third project in a row working with her.
01:58And I can't wait to see it.
02:00That's a long-ass fucking answer.
02:02No, it's perfect. We like long answers.
02:04And there's a lot of Irish talent kind of on the global stage at the moment.
02:09I'm from Dublin, so it's very nice to see everyone out and about.
02:13Is there anyone that you would love to work with?
02:16Martin McDonough.
02:18I'd love to work with him.
02:19As a director, we're absolutely sure.
02:22That guy's a genius.
02:26You know what?
02:27I'm very blessed and privileged to be able to do this for a living.
02:32I'm very honoured to be able to do this for a living.
02:34And I get to work with people that I admire, that I've looked up to, that have inspired me to
02:39do it.
02:39Right now I'm filming Mobland, season two, and I get to go toe-to-toe with Pierce Brosnan
02:47for a number of scenes.
02:49And he is an absolute delight.
02:50He's like, he say, never meet your heroes.
02:53But that's bullshit because this guy is so warm and so welcoming and so nurturing and such an artist.
03:01So, I realise how privileged I am to be in this position to get to work with heroes, I guess,
03:08to some degree.
03:09And to get on set with people who are better than me, inevitably.
03:14And every day is a school day and I just get to learn from them.
03:16It's amazing.
03:18In answer to your question, yeah, there's loads of people I want to work with.
03:21Is there anything you can tell us about Mobland season two?
03:25It is, if you like season one, penned incredibly by Jez Buttersworth, season two is season one on steroids.
03:38It is insane.
03:41It's bananas.
03:41I think, and I loved season one, I loved reading it and getting lost in that world.
03:46I think season two is even better.
03:50The scripts are fantastic.
03:53What's it like being on that set?
03:55Is there anything you can tell us about the behind the scenes?
04:03It's just a remarkable feeding grounds to learn every single time.
04:10You're surrounded by people that you grew up watching.
04:13You're surrounded by, like, there's Helen there, there's Pierce there, there's Hardy is there, Patty is there.
04:18I mean, it's impossible to go on set and not leave becoming a better person, you know, fingers crossed, a
04:25better actor.
04:26Because you're just, you're watching these guys, top of their field, doing their thing.
04:32And I'm just fanning out with them.
04:36And it's, it's an incredibly privileged position to be in.
04:42I don't take it lightly.
04:43Thank you so much.
