00:00Let's start us off with how was it like working with Jason and Jude?
00:03What did you learn collaborating with them?
00:05And do you have any memorable stories from set?
00:11You know, I'll never forget the first day when I sat down at a rehearsal with them for the first
00:16time.
00:16And I was a little nervous.
00:17And I was wondering what they would be like and what, and, you know, me being an actor who happens
00:22to be deaf.
00:22And after that first meeting, I found that they were really fun.
00:25They really reminded me of when you sit on the beach and you see two little kids playing on the
00:29beach and building sandcastles.
00:32You know, they're both so creative in the way they brainstorm and give each other feedback.
00:36Just imagine that vibe.
00:37And so it was really fun to really develop this character and to work with them both.
00:42You know, they were very open-minded and they were sensitive with deaf culture and sign language and how to
00:46approach it.
00:47And so I'm really glad that we accomplished so much with this show.
00:49And it was such an honor to be a part of this cast.
00:52I love that.
00:52And I also loved your Bottega campaign and the fact that you said that art is a safe space.
00:58Can you tell me, please, what does Hollywood need to change to embrace disabilities more?
01:08You know, American Sign Language saved my life.
01:11And it's so important to me.
01:12And it led me into the creative arts.
01:14And really, of course, I depend on American Sign Language for communication and look at where I am today.
01:20So I think it's so important to really teach the arts to deaf kids.
01:24There's no rules in art.
01:25And so it's so fun to create these characters.
01:28And really, it's art.
01:30And how can Hollywood improve?
01:32I have seen some slow transformation.
01:34And I've had a lot of meetings and really have taught various productions on how to work with actors who
01:40happen to be deaf and ASL consultants, dialogue coaches, and ASL interpreters.
01:44Change doesn't happen overnight, but I feel like it's less oppressive than it was in the past.
01:49And it's continuing to change.
01:51Well, one thing that I love is online.
01:53You post your wife of almost 20 years.
01:56No, over 20 years.
01:58I would love to know, what is the secret for that longevity?
02:01Because we love love.
02:07Well, as far as a secret to marriage, I think laughter is extremely important.
02:11Don't be afraid to make mistakes.
02:13My wife and I have known that we continue learning.
02:16We continue growing together.
02:18And really, the key is communication.
02:21And it's so important to include God, too.
02:24And my final question.
02:25You've already worked with so many greats.
02:27Is there somebody that you still dream about working with?
02:35I'd love to work with Gary Oldman, Robert De Niro, Javier Bardem.
02:41Those three names come to mind.
02:43Love it.
