00:00Harry clearly feels that he has to get his version of events out there.
00:05He wants to tell his truth and he's always casting himself as a sort of whistleblower from within the royal
00:11institution.
00:12His main beef, it appears, is that he believes members of his family were briefing the media negative stories about
00:19him and Meghan, possibly to make themselves look better.
00:22It's a very serious allegation, one that at the moment the palace is not responding to.
00:27But he feels that he needs to get this out there in the open before he can move on and
00:32before he can make peace with the family.
00:34I personally feel like the whole situation is incredibly sad and as Harry says himself, it didn't need to be
00:41this way.
00:42And yet he is the one who is publicly going out there and betraying the trust of family members in
00:49terms of the information that he is sharing.
00:52Now, he says that when he's tried to raise things privately, complaints have fallen on deaf ears.
00:58We really need to hear the other side of the story before we can judge this situation.
01:03But whichever way you look at it, Harry appears to be in pain.
01:07His family are clearly very sad about what's going on and no one comes out of it looking very good.
01:14The royal family famously keeps a stiff upper lip and that's exactly what's going on at the moment.
01:19But I suspect that they are taking time to digest these revelations, which are potentially a lot harder hitting than
01:26they were expecting.
01:27And they will want to evaluate, you know, what impact any response will have.
01:34There is an argument that if they remain silent, that eventually Harry will say everything that he wants to say
01:41and the world can move on.
01:44I'm not sure anyone can have the last word in this situation.
01:49Then again, a lot of these allegations are quite serious and go to the heart of our perception of the
01:55royal family.
01:56And it might be that they need to come out and say something to rebalance that.
01:59Well, Harry's comments really strike a blow at the heart of the monarchy, which, let's not forget, has had a
02:06change of monarch just over four months ago now.
02:10It's a time of immense change and it's a crushing blow to Charles so early in his reign.
02:16It's one that will have deeply hurt him and, of course, will have hurt Prince William.
02:21But Harry says he does believe in the monarchy.
02:24He does want to reconcile with his family.
02:26At the moment, it's very hard to see how any of this will help that situation.
02:32I think if were any more serious revelations to emerge, then the royal family would be facing an incredibly serious
02:40situation.
02:41As things stand, they may be hoping to weather the storm by not saying anything.
02:46We will wait to see what comes out in the next few days.
02:50As Harry himself says, a lot can happen between now and the coronation, but there are only five months to
02:55go.
02:55And it's very hard to see how bridges can be built in that time, given that they are not just
03:01physically apart, but psychologically miles apart, it seems, at the moment.
03:07From Buckingham Palace's side, they've always said that Harry and Meghan remain loved members of the family, that the king
03:12wants them to be welcomed, that he has extended a welcome to them, you know, in recent months and years.
03:19Whether or not Harry and Meghan, of course, want to take up those offers, remains to be seen.
03:24I personally think it would be incredibly difficult for them all to come under the same roof, Westminster Abbey, in
03:31May, as if nothing had happened.
03:32I think the reaction from the royal correspondence that I know has been one of shock.
03:38People weren't expecting this book to go as far as it does, and to go into some eye-watering detail
03:44in some places.
03:46We knew that Harry had particular acts to grind with the way that the royal institution has interacted with the
03:54media, or the way he perceives that to be the case.
03:57But some of the personal detail is shocking, but also incredibly sad.
04:04You know, it's clear that he was so, so damaged by the death of his mother, and the fallout of
04:10that is plain to see throughout the book.
04:14I think people do have sympathy for him, certainly for those awful experiences that he went through.
04:20But there was a difficulty in understanding his motives for doing this now.
