00:00You, as an actor, came out as trans.
00:02And then your character also came out as trans.
00:06Were these conversations that you got to have with the writers
00:09about the journey that your character took,
00:11having lived that experience yourself?
00:13Yeah, it was. And really with Steve Blackman,
00:17the showrunner of Umbrella, who's just incredible
00:21and such a wonderful person.
00:24And so when we first talked about it,
00:26he seemed really excited about incorporating it into the show.
00:31And an incredible writer, journalist, author,
00:36Thomas Page McBee, who I met doing a mini-series
00:39called Tales of the City.
00:41He wrote an extraordinary book called Amateur,
00:44which I highly recommend everybody to read.
00:47He was the first trans man to box in Madison Square Garden.
00:51And his book and his work in general
00:54are so much about masculinity and what it means
00:59and exploring that.
01:02So Thomas came on board and helped out.
01:06And I feel proud of it and excited for people to see it.
