00:00Did you always want to be an actor, David?
00:03No, actually, it's an interesting question.
00:06I wanted originally to be a doctor.
00:10My father was a surgeon, and then I realised
00:13I didn't really have the science knowledge
00:16and capability to become that.
00:18And then I wanted to be a documentary film cameraman.
00:22Oh, wow.
00:23And that didn't work.
00:24That was a sort of Catch-22 situation.
00:26You couldn't get a job without a union card,
00:29and you couldn't get a union card unless you had a job.
00:31So that didn't work for me.
00:33And then I was in the National Youth Theatre at the time,
00:38and I was at the Royal Court Theatre,
00:42and something happened that made me want to spend
00:45the rest of my life in that wonderful atmosphere,
00:47which I explained to you.
00:47Is that something that we can find out now,
00:50or do we have to go to the show to find out
00:51what that something was?
00:53Oh, I'd love you to book a ticket.
