00:05This one of the kids of Katie is five years older than Cam and we lived in Maidenhead then and
00:16I was
00:17married and when Cam was little very very small I think I separated when he was three it was just
00:24happy days really. My career was building I also had a production company with over 30 people working
00:31for me then it was one of the first independent production companies and so it was a lot. I kind
00:38of overriding memory of my 30s as much as I was happy I was exhausted because to be a working
00:45mum
00:46and a businesswoman having two children and my mum lived with us so I was looking after my mum as
00:54well and all of that. Now I look back and how on earth did I do it all but you
01:00do at the time don't
01:01you so if you are a working mum you have my sympathy. We've always had a happy home you know
01:10when you go
01:10into a home and you feel something because we have no element of snobbery and because they grew up in
01:17wealth you know I was very keen that they understood the other side of life which they both do and
01:25then
01:25this one I suppose I was in my 40s and my mum obviously and she just lived in it when
01:31I was
01:31married, divorced and she died four years ago. 35 years when I looked after her and then this one so
01:40I always wanted to be a fighter pilot. Poor family you couldn't be a fighter pilot in the 80s only
01:47in
01:47the 90s with the Royal Air Force except women and even then it's still still a small number. I met
01:53at
01:53one of the big air shows here a wonderful lady called Polly Vasher and I was in my 50s and
02:01I said
02:01you know I always wanted to fly and she said why don't you? I went well you know I'm in
02:08my 50s now
02:09which is not like me at all and she said she said I've learned to fly in my 50s and
02:14I've flown
02:15twice around the world solo since then I went wow you're an inspiration so then I started taking
02:22lessons and then I thought no I feel a responsibility in sort of science, maths, engineering and so on as
02:29a
02:30woman to show other women and younger women what can be done. Every pilot remembers their first solo
02:38so it's the first time you get into an aircraft without your instructor take off and round in
02:46what's called a circuit round an airfield and land all by yourself that's your first solo. So I did it
02:52live on this morning and this perfect landing I loved it and I'm going back to it next year I
03:00can't
03:01wait definitely getting back to that and I think that's to do with you know my age I'm 60 I'm
03:06in a
03:06position more to make choices proper choices based on what makes me happy I'm choosing the things that
03:12make me the happiest and flying is one of them
03:15you
