00:05The Duchess shared her thoughts on how important gardens and gardening can be for our well-being.
00:13I think gardens got people through Covid.
00:17They realised how special a garden was and what they could do with it.
00:21They could become inventive.
00:23Even if they hadn't before, they could start growing vegetables.
00:26It was a sort of spiritual experience for them.
00:29They discovered a sort of affinity with the soil, didn't they?
00:34You could go into a garden, you could completely lose yourself.
00:37You don't have to think about anything else. You're surrounded by nature.
00:41Even though you've got birds singing, you've got bees buzzing about.
00:45It's something very healing about gardens.
00:48I'm very lucky. I've got a big vegetable garden.
00:51Bert, you've got the mice, the voles this year, all at the asparagus roots and then they've got into the
00:57strawberries.
00:57I mean, you could never win, there's always something.
00:59No.
01:00I'd love to put down swathes of bulks and I'd also like to have a proper wildflower meadow.
01:07I think, especially now, it's ever more important to have these wildflowers.
01:12I mean, if we're going to keep on attracting, you know, butterflies and bees.
01:17I think that's very important.
01:19I think that's very important.
