00:11and performers from all the best musicals in town and we, along with Belvita, are supporting
00:16an amazing campaign for a charity.
00:18We are going to put on one of the first West End performances on the street to celebrate
00:23all the theatre's reopening, hopefully from the 17th of May.
00:30So my name is Joe Bunker, I'm a musical director and I've been helping teach this brand new
00:36song, Brighter Days, to the ensemble.
00:39We have been rehearsing this song on Zoom to begin with, but today we've been rehearsing
00:44with the West End cast at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End.
00:50I'm Nicky Davison, I'm Joe Davison, we've been writing a song about the reopening of theatre
00:56after the year of lockdown.
00:59I can't tell you the chills that it brings, hearing other people singing live on stage,
01:05something that you've written and arranged, it's really, something really magical and nothing
01:10can replace that live element.
01:12It's so good to be back.
01:19So we are currently at the Dominion Theatre, which you can see here, which has sat empty
01:23for a year.
01:24So it's quite emotional for us to come together as a group of performers and actually rehearse
01:29in a rehearsal room in an actual theatre.
01:32To be surrounded by fellow performers for me is an amazing feeling, because I haven't shared
01:38a stage with other performers in well over a year, so it's really nice and really exciting.
01:44And the thing is, when you hear these amazing voices come together, it gives you goosebumps.
01:48We're going to put on a performance that you won't want to miss.
01:54I miss theatre so much and there's nothing that can replace it.
01:57Our careers have had to be put on hold, you know, for the year.
02:02So it's been a fun day getting back into the groove and everything.

02:08I was walking on the way here, my journey in, and I was just so, so excited to get to
02:13do
02:13something after a year that I really love doing.
02:16It just feels like we've never left.
02:18It's been really great performing with a group of people, because obviously I haven't
02:22had that interaction for a whole year, so it's felt really special, especially being
02:26partnered with somebody that I've never met before, being able to dance with them and being
02:29able to lift me, because we've all been tested and it's all safe, it just feels fantastic.
02:34Why, my friend, I can't wait for brighter days.
02:44I'm so looking forward to things, finally getting back to normal.

02:52I didn't even know I was sad about this.
02:57We need theatre because it brings everyone together, no matter what your background is,
03:03what society you're from, what your beliefs are.
03:07I feel like performing brings so much colour to life, and it brings so much joy to people.
03:17For people passing by, I hope they see that we're still here, and that when the industry
03:23is back up and running, the shows are going to need more support than ever.
