00:03I have to really rewind like far, far, far back into the past to think of the story behind Just
00:10a Girl.
00:11I had just literally started songwriting. I didn't even know that I knew how to songwrite.
00:15And my parents were quite strict with me and I was living at home even into my 20s.
00:20And I would have to come home and like knock on my parents' door.
00:23And it was frustrating because I was already like older, you know what I mean?
00:26But it got me also sort of like paranoid about the fact that why?
00:30I can remember thinking, wow, I'm in a car right now. I'm driving home. It's like 1 in the morning.
00:35And if something did happen to me, I'm quite, like I'm vulnerable because I'm a girl.
00:40And then you start to think, wow, okay, maybe people actually look at me different because I am a female.
00:45And so I just wanted to write a song to express how I was feeling in that moment.
00:49And I never in my wildest dreams thought that anyone would hear it.
