00:11Yes, because they obviously had a very important part to play recently.
00:15On this International Nurses Day, my family and I want to join in the chorus of thank
00:21you to nursing and midwifery staff all over the country and indeed the world.
00:27Extraordinary times fall for extraordinary people.
00:30Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
00:33Thank you for everything you're doing.
00:35A huge thank you from us all.
00:36Thank you so much.
00:37Thank you for what you're doing.
00:45We'd love to hear what it's like on the ground.
00:47It's been as hectic as it has been around the world, I would say.
00:50In the emergency department, obviously stepping up our protocols and guidelines.
00:55I hope you're feeling some of the love as well.
00:57We are feeling the love.
00:58We are happy to be here and provide the services to the patient.

01:05The outcomes are so much better because of the interventions that you're doing.

01:44Does that pose extra challenges for you in the health care system?
01:47Yeah, it does.
01:50By making sure that we reach out to people, giving them a funny method so that we are able
01:54to have some people.
01:56Are the sunflowers out in Malawi?
01:59Yeah, not yet, of course.
02:01Because we don't have summer.
02:04One of the most beautiful sites.
02:05It's the most marvellous thing.
02:07Without doubt, our civilian cousins are bearing the brunt of this onslaught.
02:11So it's a massive thank you to those heroes.
02:14Keep your chin up and keep fighting for good fighting.
02:16Is everyone worried about their families and their loved ones back home?
02:20That must be adding to the pressure.
02:22Alas, all my children in February.
02:24And how are they all doing with lockdown?
02:27Everybody's fine, my mother kids are doing well.
02:31My ex-wife's a school teacher so she's keeping them busy.
02:36Be careful, be careful.
02:37She's about to be recruited from...
02:42I'd quite like her to come and help me.
02:47So we are enormously grateful for everything that you all do.
02:50We're a huge inspiration to everybody.

03:05You, your colleagues, are doing a terrific job.

03:12What you do at the Aberdeen Centre is so very special.
03:16And we are looking out for each other.
03:18I think because of the experience of Ebola, people are aware.
03:22And because of that, the sanitation with the whole country is very, very important.
03:30Before even Ebola's case was ready to be, the preparation was huge, very huge.
03:36Thank you for all the hard work that you do on a day-to-day basis.
03:39And particularly, you know, providing expert care to those in need, despite these difficult circumstances.
03:46Because, Ivelina, you're, you know, predominantly supporting children.
03:50How has it changed now, supporting adults because of COVID-19?
03:56Current Children's Intensive Care Team, they moved to a whole new unit.
04:01So they were getting used to working in a new environment.
04:05But actually, the cohesion of the team worked quite nicely.
04:08We all became one team by the end.
04:10People forget you're doing this on a daily basis.
04:13You're caring for people day in, day out.
04:15There's still a stigma around mental health in the Bahamas.
04:20There's still a stigma in the community.
04:22So persons that have to be mostly, basically, at their whips and or parents aren't able to deal with it
04:29at all.
04:29It's amazing. I do know how you managed to do this and keep the show on the road, you know,
04:34despite the extra pressures you're all under and the challenging conditions.
04:37You know, it's just shown how vital the role that nurses play across the world.
04:41So you should be so proud of the work that you do.
04:43And thank you very much from all of us.
