00:10so many of you have been asking me how do I do a basic man's haircut my son has been
00:17asking me
00:18to cut their hair my husband or my partner whoever it is but there is a simple way that you
00:24can cut
00:24the man's hair so the best way to always cut hair is for the hair to be wet then I
00:32always like to
00:33brush it through with my brand new tangle angel rebel there's two things you have to remember
00:43in cutting the man's hair one is the outside shape so in other words how short is the overall shape
00:52of the haircut going to be so that's step one and step two is the layering of hair what I
01:00always
01:00like to do when I'm cutting a man's haircut is to start with the outside shape first and usually
01:07it's best I find to start from the back the first thing is it's important to cut the hair on
01:12the neck
01:13so you can see there this is the outside shape so this is going to determine how long the hair
01:20is
01:21going to be at the back now if you can it's always best to just cut it on the skin
01:25my next section is
01:36to cut the fringe it's very very very long at the moment and I'm sure a lot of you at
01:41home your hair
01:42is going the same way so we just comb the hair forward to take a section a cross section so
01:49this
01:49is pretty much what we're calling the fringe cutting the fringe so I'm going to pull it down keeping
01:55the hair taut in between my fingers and I cut across to take another section just bring the hair all
02:07forward onto the section that you've just cut so using my corner point from the fringe I'm now just angling
02:23my fingers down sectioning across and I'm just blending in the side of the haircut then I take a section
02:33just to
02:34the ear and cut across and then I'm working around always keeping my hand my fingers pointing downwards
02:44so you can then comb the hair down and any stray bits here you can just cut up
02:57like so now simply repeat on the other side but do remember it's a really good tip to keep wetting
03:05the hair so I'm taking the corner of my first section of the fringe and I'm holding my fingers
03:11down whatever you do don't hold them up like that because you'll end up cutting too much off
03:22I'm just going to tidy up his side bands here just cutting up a little bit this is all the
03:28outside
03:28shape then try and take a section and literally like I did on the other side I'm just cutting down
03:39at about 35 40 degrees now it's a good tip to remember to try and keep the hair taut and
03:50as tight
03:51it's all about the tension in the hair now you can comb it forward like this and you can see
03:56some stray
03:57bits like I had on the other side and you can just cut those away bringing the rest of the
04:05hair
04:05forward there's no more hair to come onto my first section you can see there there's no more hair to
04:11cut now the haircut is just going to get a little bit more tricky and I'm going to be talking
04:21basic
04:22layering so the basic basic basic layering technique is to take for a start from the crown from the crown
04:33to the front of the haircut and move the hair away you can see that I'm always taking sections now
04:39I'm
04:39lifting this section up this first section the very first section is your guide for the whole haircut so
04:49I'm gonna Oliver probably hasn't had his hair cut for probably about five or six weeks and that would
04:55be about five or six weeks growth so I'm holding the hair up as I keep saying making the hair
05:02taut keeping
05:03it taut at 90 degrees from the scalp and I'm cutting it so I'm holding it tight you don't want
05:11to be
05:11cutting like this so then I take a little section from the back of this layer here and I bring
05:19it forward
05:20bring it back and I match up and this section here so I'm going to cut all the way down
05:28the back of the
05:29head again at 90 degrees now that here is my guide because that was the guide from my section up
05:39here I
05:46I take this section so this is my guide I push that away and I'm working down the rest of
05:53the haircut 90 degrees
06:00now it's actually quite simple to blend the rest of the hair in so I take a first section here
06:07and I lift it
06:09up lift it up all of it a crossway cross section lift it up at 90 degrees now you can
06:16see that first
06:17Mohican line here and I hold the hair at 90 degrees and bring all the rest of the hair in
06:25this section up
06:26to match into it then I divide it in half again push the hair that I've already cut away another
06:34section
06:35here and there's my guideline and I'm holding it in 90 degrees and cutting it all the way across
06:44like working all the way to the back of the head here there's my guide and I'm holding it very
06:51taut pushing the hair away bringing the hair up and layering it across so I'm cross layering here and
07:01I'm blending all of the top of the haircut so it's all the same length you can see it's almost
07:08finished
07:08on the top because as I lift my fingers there's no stray hairs now's the time we've layered the top
07:14now's the time to layer the sides the same principle 90 degrees all the way around the haircut now do
07:22you
07:22remember I've cut my first section you can see it here and what we're going to do is just divide
07:28that
07:29first section that I cut and use that cut divide it in half push this bit away and now we're
07:34going
07:34to work all the way around this haircut at 90 degrees now it's just time to cut the other side
07:44in
07:44exactly the same way if you start taking hair more hair off than you did in the previous section you're
07:55doing something wrong all the way around this haircut when you're layering you should be taking exactly
08:02the same off as you did in the previous section
08:13and there you have it a simple man's haircut that should see you through the lockdown and don't forget
