00:00But I still get nervous, still get excited, but I remember sitting down and just seeing like, my office, this
00:06is my space, my home, my baby.
00:09And then I just realised as the day went on, and as the show went on for the next couple
00:13of days, I could relax into it, and I was like, it's my space.
00:17If I want to go and dance with somebody, let's dance with them, let's have fun, you know, they're about
00:21to go on for a life-changing performance.
00:24So you may see me twerk at some point, you may not, that's all I'm saying.
00:28This is, it's a scary thing. Auditions are scary, let alone with an audience of, I think, a thousand or
00:35however many it was.
00:36And then you've got, I'm going to say horrible dance captains in front of you, they're not, they're all absolutely
00:40lovely.
00:41But to you, it's like, oh my God, they're dance captains. So it becomes a horrible feeling almost.
00:47It's nerve wracking, it's scary, it is not easy.
00:50It's hard, it's hard. I feel stressed just slightly because there's so many people that you want to help.
00:55And you remember, because we've all been in that position before, we've all auditioned, you know what the stakes are
01:01for you to go there and for you to potentially not get to go through.
01:04And we want to bring them all, but we can't, you know, and that's a part of...
01:07When the mirror doesn't open, that's awful, isn't it?
01:08It's heartbreaking, it really is. I mean, OT...
01:11I struggle the most with the elimination, I don't like that part, but I'm learning, it's like it might be
01:18better this year.
01:19So we've got a new format that at the end of each audition day, each dance captain gets to choose
01:24their favourite dancer of the day,
01:26so essentially their greatest dancer of the day, somebody they can basically put straight through to the live shows, become
01:32part of their final...
01:33How many dancers they each get?
01:34Three, so final 12.
01:35So that's part of the final 12, which is amazing, because that made each day a little bit more interesting.
01:39Yeah, it was quite energetic at the end, it wasn't like, oh, dishes are coming to a close.
01:42Yeah, and it was like randomly done, so you didn't know which dance captain it was going to be.
01:46And I thought that was a really nice new change, actually.
01:49Yeah, yeah.
01:50What's the kind of dynamic that they're having?
01:51Familiar with the show.
01:52Yeah, exactly.
01:53So they get it.
01:54They understand the dynamic.
01:55I feel like a lot of people I spoke to at home, it's funny that they automatically, they accepted the
02:01role of dance captain or judge almost immediately,
02:04as soon as they had the chance.
02:05Even though they're not voting themselves in the audience, because they're sat at home and they know it's up to
02:10the audience,
02:10they're very much like, they shouldn't go through.
02:12No, they should go through.
02:14Like, they bang on it, they're really opinionated and they don't know what they want.
02:16That's right.
02:17And it's so enjoyable watching them just take over.
02:20It's brilliant.
02:20And the captains get frustrated from time to time, because there might be an act that they technically like for
02:25whatever reason,
02:27but it just goes over the audience's head and they're like, no, we want more.
02:30We want the full package.
02:31We want the full shebang.
02:32This is why I love the show, because I feel like what it does, even for dancers, for performers, for
02:37me and Alicia, for the dance captains,
02:39it genuinely shows you a representation of what the British public want to see, what they want to be entertained
02:44by,
02:45because it is up to them.
02:46It really is.
02:47So you kind of see something weird, go, oh my God, that technically is insane.
02:50And like Alicia, it goes, people just don't care.
02:53And in a way, because we are so, I think in a way, because there are so many talent shows
02:58out there,
02:59I think the audience have become really savvy.
03:00So they also have their standards and expectations are set higher.
03:04They don't tolerate, there's certain acts you think, oh, they'll be kind, they'll let them through.
03:08No, no.
03:08And they don't.
03:09And that's always so interesting when they get a no.
