00:00Obviously, AIPAC is a big part of this conversation because Israel has become a very central topic,
00:06especially inside the Democratic Party, but nationally as well.
00:10Do you believe Israel has a right to exist?
00:13So, Casey, AIPAC has become a big issue in this election because AIPAC has already spent $30 million in this
00:18election.
00:18They're by far the biggest spender in the race.
00:20Now, the question about a right to exist, it's interesting because nobody's ever asked me whether or not I believe
00:25Palestine has a right to exist.
00:27Every single president who's served has said that they believe in a two-state solution.
00:31Israel exists.
00:31The question is whether or not we want a politics where our money is sent over to Israel to do
00:36genocide and apartheid instead of investing in our own kids.
00:39You say it exists, but does it have a right to?
00:43I didn't say that.
00:44I just said the question of Israel's existence is not a question.
00:47I'm not going to play this gotcha game about whether or not it has a right to exist.
00:51The question ultimately is about whether or not we want a politics that dignifies...
00:54You're not going to play the gotcha game, but you're not going to say you think Israel has a right
00:58to exist.
00:58Well, my question, you know, Casey, I think the question we ought to ask is, does everybody have equal rights
01:03to peace, dignity, and self-determination?
01:05That's Jewish Israelis and Palestinians.
01:07And to me, the folks who should answer what the ultimate peace there looks like should be Jewish Israelis and
01:12Palestinians.
01:12I want my tax dollars spent here in Michigan to provide schools in Michigan, to build health care in Michigan,
01:18to invest in Michigan, rather than to be sent abroad to kill Palestinian people, do genocides, and apartheid.
01:23The question about whether or not Israel has a right to exist is actually quite secondary to whether or not
01:27they have a right to our tax dollars.
01:29And people don't ask that question in good faith.
01:31So if you want to ask me about Palestinian right to exist, if you want to ask me about what
01:35I want to do for kids in Michigan, I'm happy to answer that question.
01:37But the AIPAC and Israel have become secondary questions that too many people have to talk about because our tax
01:44dollars keep getting spent over there rather than being...
