00:04Hey guys, so I wanted to do a quick video basically on baking because I got so many questions about
00:10it recently when I did a Get Ready With Me and I said I was going to bake.
00:14I had a meeting and I thought, you know, why not bake and have a meeting at the same time.
00:18I'm a multitasker.
00:20So a lot of people were asking me questions about it, plus in my masterclass we spent quite a bit
00:25of time, well I definitely went over baking, obviously contouring was my main subject in my masterclass.
00:30I think that's to me the most important thing because when a woman contours a face, it gives you a
00:35facelift, nose job, cheek job, does everything.
00:38So I spent so much time focusing on contouring in my masterclass because that's the most important thing to me.
00:44And I was talking about baking as well, or cooking, sometimes they call it cooking, sometimes they call it baking.
00:48So I kind of wanted to do a video about that because people were like, what the hell is baking?
00:53I actually got a lot of emails about baking, so I kind of wanted to show you guys what it
00:57is.
00:57So I went ahead and I actually did my full makeup, but I didn't set it yet.
01:01I put like the cream foundation, the cream contour and everything like that.
01:05I don't have the highlighter and I don't really have any blush.
01:07I have a little bit of cream blush on.
01:09Actually I'm using the Bene Tint, the Cha Cha Tint, but I haven't really set anything in yet.
01:15So I'm going to show you guys how you do this, how you bake.
01:18So baking basically, okay, first of all, not everybody needs to bake.
01:22Baking is really more of a, now contouring, I do think everybody needs to contour.
01:27Baking to me is only necessary for, I guess, three, three things, two or three things.
01:33Let's see.
01:33The first thing, baking really started, I think, kind of like with the drag community.
01:38And the reason why they bake is because they really want to, where we contour to kind of add depth,
01:44they want to highlight, to really, really, really highlight.
01:47And baking really emphasizes the highlight.
01:49So it really brings out this whole area here or wherever you're trying to bake.
01:54So it's really great for people, typically the most common place to bake is around your cheeks, like underneath your
01:59eyes and around this area.
02:01A lot of times people will also bake, for instance, sometimes I'll bake on my chin.
02:05That sounds so weird.
02:06Because I want my chin to kind of be more emphasized because my chin is a little bit smaller.
02:11You know, or if you have a smaller forehead, maybe you can bake in the middle of your forehead.
02:15So you can bake wherever you want.
02:16If you have like a very heart-shaped face and you want to bring out this area, you can also
02:19bake in this area as well.
02:22You can put like a really nice line of powder.
02:24I'm sure you've seen it with people.
02:25But it's really, really, really transformational.
02:27So as much as you have contouring, you also have baking.
02:30So that's really great to kind of highlight those areas, really emphasize those areas.
02:34Another thing too, what baking does too, when you leave the powder, you let it sit there for a while,
02:38it kind of like, it almost like melts into your skin.
02:41It like blends in with the creams, with the foundation and the concealer and the powder starts to just kind
02:47of melt.
02:48And it almost becomes seamless when you leave it there for a little while.
02:52So typically people bake for 5 to 10 minutes, sometimes even 20 minutes depending on, you know, the person and
02:57really what they're trying to achieve.
02:59And what really happens is your pores kind of start to disappear too because the powder really starts to settle
03:04in any of those rough areas or hollowed out areas.
03:07So that's another thing that baking does too.
03:10It really does kind of smooth out the skin.
03:11It looks really great in selfies.
03:13It kind of adds an extra emphasis to this area.
03:16And it looks really, really beautiful, you know, for photo shoots and those type of things.
03:20Would I bake on a daily basis?
03:21No, definitely not.
03:22If I have a photo shoot, sure.
03:24If I want to take some selfies, sure.
03:26If I'm just, you know, doing a quick contour and I have some meetings and I just want to look
03:29good going out with my husband, maybe a quick date, I would not bake.
03:34But if I do, if I have like a really important event, yes, I would definitely bake.
03:37Another thing that was really great for baking as well, as you can see, I still have like my concealers
03:42here and I haven't said it yet.
03:43One of the best things about baking is that it kind of lets everything set and also it almost like
03:48keeps it there, like it doesn't let it budge.
03:51So, especially around the under eye area where we tend to, like especially if you have longer lashes, like I
03:58never had lashes but now after using Revitalash for so long, I have long lashes on the bottom.
04:02And, I mean, it's definitely caused like this whole panda eye thing because my makeup will just smudge.
04:07So, when you put a lot of powder there and you let it sit for a while too, it just,
04:10it kind of like almost makes that like not a problem at all.
04:14Like it becomes a non-issue which is so, so, so good.
04:18So, I'm going to now show you, demonstrate how to bake.
04:22So, the first thing I did is I went ahead and I went and I put a little, the Ben
04:26Nye Banana Powder.
04:27You can mix it.
04:28I usually mix it.
04:29This is the Luxury Powder Banana.
04:30I usually mix it also with the lighter shade as well.
04:33But, I'm just going to go ahead and put a nice amount here.
04:36And, I also am mixing in and I really do like this powder for baking as well.
04:40It's kind of like my secret.
04:41I really love this powder.
04:42I used this in my class and now I'm telling you guys.
04:44I gave away a lot of secrets in my class.
04:46Not that I don't want to give everyone my secrets but you know, you definitely have some things that you're
04:50like, oh, this is my thing.
04:52And, this is definitely my thing.
04:53So, I'm going to, I'm going to tell you guys about this too.
04:55This is the Givenchy Poudre Premier.
05:00So, it's a really, really fine powder.
05:02A lot of people that sometimes like to use the Make Up For Ever powders.
05:05But, I feel like that one just really shows in photos.
05:07And, you've seen like a lot of mistakes with a lot of celebrities where it'll end up like on their
05:14jawline and everything like that.
05:15And, this to me doesn't reflect really badly in photos.
05:17I think it looks really great.
05:18It's so fine.
05:19So, I'm just going to go ahead and place a small amount there.
05:22And, now I'm basically applying, I'm mixing the powders together with my sponge.
05:28And, okay.
05:29So, you can bake either using, you can apply the powder with either a beauty blender or if you want
05:35a little extra coverage.
05:36Like, in the case of a lot of drag queens, sometimes they'll use a powder puff.
05:39In my opinion, the powder puff is super, super heavy.
05:42So, I'm going to just go ahead and apply with a beauty blender.
05:47Now, if you need extra highlighting and extra kind of baking power, then you can use a powder puff.
05:56And, what the, I like the beauty blender because I feel like, because the beauty blender is wet, what it
06:00does is, it kind of, it kind of like puts not too heavy of an amount on.
06:07But, you can always reapply and apply more.
06:09And, I'm just going to apply a little bit here.
06:12Anywhere where I basically want to highlight.
06:14And, on my chin.
06:16And, what a lot of people do as well, and I usually don't do this because I'm always in a
06:20rush.
06:20But, if I have enough time for a photo shoot, I won't use a beauty blender for the tip of
06:24my nose.
06:24I will use, like, usually like an alcone sponge.
06:27I really like to use that because I especially feel if we're like, the middle of the nose, it kind
06:33of creates a really beautiful shape.
06:34It just gives you like, a really nice slender shape.
06:38In makeup school, we actually used to like, cut these.
06:40Like, and create like, a really nice kind of fatter, flatter, flat area.
06:47I need some more product.
06:59And, my nose is a little thin actually for my face.
07:03It just always has been.
07:05So, I might make it actually a little wider.
07:08But, if you want to make it thinner, you can totally do that.
07:11And, I'm not going all the way down because my nose is, although it's very thin.
07:14It's very long.
07:16It's kind of like a beak of a bird or something.
07:20And, I like it like that.
07:21But, I'm just basically kind of just applying a thicker amount.
07:25Some people might want to thin their nose out.
07:27So, they might want to make it just one thin line.
07:29Whereas, I'm making mine a little bit broader.
07:32And, essentially now what you do is, you can apply a small amount of powder.
07:35So, I wouldn't maybe use that lighter powder on my whole face.
07:39But, I would go ahead and apply more of this Ben Nye powder.
07:42And, you can do this again with a beauty blender or really whatever you want.
07:45And, I'm just applying a small palette powder everywhere else.
07:48I'm not touching this area.
07:49I want to leave that there.
07:53And, some people like to bake here over their lip too.
07:55Especially, right here over the cupid's bow.
07:57It actually looks really, really, really pretty.
07:59I don't because I have a lot more space there.
08:02So, I usually like to over line my lip.
08:03This is really just, you know, about you and what you're trying to manipulate.
08:07What you're trying to create.
08:08So, I kind of removed all that on my chin.
08:09I'm going to apply a little bit more.
08:11And, basically now, before we do the powder contour, we're going to let this sit for a good, like, five
08:17to ten minutes.
08:18And, then we're going to come back.
08:20Okay.
08:20Now, I'm just going to go ahead and buff this area where you can see I applied a little bit
08:23more powder.
08:24So, you can either use, like, a kind of, like, a domed brush like this.
08:27This is from Sarah Artistry.
08:28It's a really great brush.
08:29Or, you can use, like, kind of, like, this is really great from Sigma.
08:32And, by the way, this week you get 10% off any orders from Sigma.

08:41But, you can use it either brush.
08:43This is, and this is a really great brush.
08:44This is F15 from Sigma or this dome brush.
08:47So, you can see this is a really great brush to kind of get rid of any of this extra
08:52powder.
08:54And, you can see here now this area is really highlighted even before we've contoured.
09:01We haven't actually contoured inside the jawline yet.
09:03And, it's really, really, we have the cream contour but we haven't done it with the powder.
09:07And, it looks really, really beautiful.
09:10So, now I'm just going to go ahead and I'm just going to apply a little bit of bronzer here.
09:15And, I'm also just going to use some blush.
09:18This is from Morph brushes.
09:20I'm just going to take a little bit of this color here.
09:30And, you can see that, you can still see this highlighted area.
09:34It's really super, super highlighted.
09:36It looks really well lifted, very rounded, which is very feminine and very important.
09:41And, that's what you get from baking.
09:43So, baking is, you know, it's a really great process to kind of make your skin look really seamless.
09:49Really perfect.
09:50And, it really does also make your makeup look more professionally done when you bake.
09:54So, if you just kind of put powder everywhere.
09:57You went ahead and did your cream highlight or whatever highlight you do.
10:00Or, a cream contour.
10:02And, then you just apply powder all over.
10:03You still have to do the powder contour.
10:05It's really important.
10:06And, baking really emphasizes that highlight in a way that you just cannot get.
10:10If you leave it there for just a couple of minutes.
10:13So, hopefully you guys really understand baking now.
10:16Because, I've gotten so many questions about it.
10:17And, I think it is really important to understand.
10:20I do go more in depth with this in our master class.
10:24And, I've been getting a lot of questions to do.
10:25A lot more master classes.
10:27And, we weren't thinking about doing it before.
10:29But, I think because of the request.
10:31Literally, we're getting like.
