00:00I'm Vivian Sheriff, I'm the design director of Vivian Sheriff limited and
00:03we're well known for making beautiful hats. We are in my studio in the rolling
00:09beautiful Wiltshire Hills. We design hats, we manufacture pieces up here which go
00:13all over the world. Some pieces are going through our wedding and we've made many
00:19pieces for many eminent heads over the years. We've started with blocking a
00:25piece so on a wooden block we form the shape of the base of the hat. From then
00:32we start to trim the hat to create the finished piece. We've got so many
00:39beautiful components in this studio and there's always an array of feathers. The
00:44crystals which is just beautiful, it's like being a sweet shop you know it's
00:48absolutely lovely and the silks that we use. I think a real signature, a real Vivian
00:52Sheriff's signature is the way we use colour so the feathers sort of you know
00:58the elegance of the piece often our pieces are called wearable art. It's a
01:04great feeling when we see the pieces being worn it is actually really exciting
01:08to see them being worn genuinely. We you know we often don't know when people are
01:14going to wear them and so we will cluster around an iPhone or something and just
01:17think oh my god look at this you know some so-and-so's wearing a such and such and
01:20it is a really good fun feeling.
