01:24I have always been struck by the commitment to ensuring that children in their care receive the very best possible

01:32Their dedication to integrating emotional understanding and wellbeing into all areas of the school environments in school.
01:44We know that schools have a vital role to play in creating an emotional, healthy culture for children.
01:50In spite of often challenging circumstances and the ever present focus on academic achievement,
01:56I have witnessed the determination of many teachers and head teachers in schools across the country to prioritise the mental
02:06health and social development of children in healthcare.
02:11To help them build social skills. To help them build emotional skills.
02:16And ultimately to teach them life skills that will last a lifetime and be the foundations for overcoming emotionally and
02:25mentally healthy habits.
02:28Schools, however, cannot or should not manage this alone.
02:32School leaders and teachers need expert guidance and training to develop their own approaches to supporting children's emotional and mental
02:40wellbeing.
02:40They also need access to the core of experienced, well-trained mental health professionals who can step in when things
02:50become more complex and more serious.
02:54As its patron, I'm incredibly proud of the contribution that Place2Be is making towards exactly this.
03:02They are training and guiding thousands of counsellors and many hundreds of school leaders, teachers and staff based on the
03:12evidence and experience gathered from their frontline work.
03:17In my years of working with all of you at Place2Be, I have seen at first hand the leadership you
03:23provide.
03:24You are at the forefront of efforts to give every child the very best start in life.
03:31That's why this new centre of excellence is so crucial.
03:35Not only for Place2Be to continue their groundbreaking work, but for all schools.
03:42All school leaders, teachers and children.
03:47It helps them now and undoubtedly it will help them in the future years to come.
