00:05So, next up, Chris is going to create flat iron waves, aren't you?
00:10Yes.
00:11So guys, a lot of people are creating waves now with flat iron, so I'm going to show you
00:15exactly how to do it so you get that really cool look.
00:18The flat iron waves are a great way of making your hair wavy but in a very undone way and
00:23it keeps a lot of volume out of the hair, so it's nice if you like something that's
00:27kind of a little bit more chill, a bit more relaxed.
00:29So, we're going to keep it really simple, work with your natural part and then we're
00:33going to split the hair into two sections at the side, so we're going to split from the
00:38crown to below the ear and we're going to split that section into two.
00:43You don't worry about, you know, your sections being super neat, you can keep it kind of quite
00:47loose.
00:49Then what we're going to do is split those two sections into two and I'm going to be using
00:53my favourite product and I actually helped design this.
00:57Yes, this is the Koloow style on steroids.
00:59Guys, this great product gets me out of so many sticky situations.
01:04It's basically like back combing with love in a bottle.
01:08Love that stuff.
01:09So, it gives your hair an amazing amount of volume, it gives your hair an amazing amount
01:13of texture, it also has heat protection and when we're using it with the irons it doesn't
01:17get sticky.
01:17So, I love it.
01:19Okay.
01:19I'm going to blast that for out the big lengths and ends.
01:22Oh, I like that it's got heat protection as well.
01:23That's good.
01:24Exactly.
01:24You can hold it for me.
01:25And then what we're going to do is we're going to use the flattening iron and all we're going
01:29to do when we do the flattening iron ways is you have to move the hair in a figure of
01:33like an S shape, backwards and forwards.
01:36Okay.
01:36So, you're going to bend the hair forwards and you literally clamp it in and then once
01:41you've got that you're going to follow it through to the opposite side.
01:44So, you're almost creating like an S, a backwards S and you're just going backwards and forwards
01:49and you're just clamping it as you go along.
01:52So, my tip would be not to create too much tension on the hair, keep it loose and you're
01:56literally bending the hair in an S-wards direction, so literally like this.
02:00Just curving backwards and forwards, round and around and keep it nice and bouncy, nice
02:05and light.
02:05And that's the wave.
02:06You can see it's really cool, really quick, but it's flat.
02:08Really quick.
02:08And it's not got, you know, excess volume in it.
02:11It's kind of pretty clever, right?
02:13Yeah, I love that.
02:13And because you've got the styling steroids in there, you can feel the hold.
02:17So, if you feel it now, you know, it stays together.
02:19So, let it cool, let it settle.
02:21Once we've done the whole head, we're going to actually, you know, shake the hair out and
02:25you will see the cool texture.
02:26But whilst the hair's hot, let it cool and let it settle.
02:30And then we're going to repeat that on the next section of hair.
02:34Is this a style you get asked for?
02:37A lot.
02:37A lot.
02:38Yeah, because, you know, we're going to keep the roots nice and flat.
02:40So, that gives it a nice cool sort of finish.
02:42So, keep the first couple of inches of the root flat and then just work that wave in.
02:47So, we're bending it one way, feeding the iron through.
02:51The iron's just basically heating up the hair and setting it.
02:54And then again, the opposite direction.
02:58And then back again.
03:00And you just get this really kind of cool, very modern wave.
03:04You know, it's a lot more modern than like a traditional curl.
03:07And it's great if you want something more chill.
03:10You know, not so super kind of like, I don't know.
03:13But sometimes with waves, people don't like the puffiness of it.
03:16They don't like the volume.
03:17You know?
03:17Yeah.
03:18So, we're going to split those sections into two again.
03:20You can take large sections.
03:21Now, if you want a more detailed look, you basically just want to take like smaller sections.
03:28But with you, I want to keep it super chill.
03:30And I almost want to just enhance what you've got.
03:33You know, I like kind of like this natural texture you've got going on.
03:36So, I'm actually just going to enhance that.
03:38Yeah.
03:39I don't want to be super like curly.
03:43And depending on your hair type, if your hair is super thick, you might want to take smaller sections.
03:47Only because, you know, it might drop more.
03:50Okay.
03:51I can't believe how quick this is.
03:53Super quick.
03:53Yeah.
03:54The product really helps because it basically makes the hair set.
03:57Okay.
03:57And you can see there's no stickiness as well whilst we're doing that.
04:00And what I hate about products when you're using them with the irons is it gets sticky usually.
04:04Okay.
04:04Because the heat melts into the hair and it kind of all gets a bit tacky.
04:07So, what I love about the style and steroids is you just don't do that.
04:10And this is also going to create an amazing volume for me after.
04:13So, we're going to do the same on the other side.
04:16I love that product.
04:17That's amazing.
04:18Yeah.
04:18Really good.
04:19Great if anyone wants volume.
04:20And do you know what I love about the style and steroids?
04:22I'm going to give you a hold.
04:24Is it's great for like, you know if you've just washed your hair and it's super soft.
04:28Yeah.
04:28And you can't do anything with it.
04:30And you just wouldn't have kind of lived in.
04:31Yes.
04:31A lot of people say to me, I prefer my hair the second day.
04:34Because when it's a bit dirty.
04:35It's got a little bit more kind of pliability and I can kind of manage my hair better.
04:39Just a bit more texture.
04:41Yeah.
04:43I normally like spray dry shampoo all over my hair.
04:46You do?
04:47To try and stop it from, yeah, give it a bit of texture and get rid of the softness of
04:51it because it's hard to work with.
04:52Yeah.
04:53Because I like this stuff.
04:59So remember, don't overthink it.
05:01Keep it flat.
05:02Don't elevate the hair out from the head too much or keep the roots nice and flat.
05:06Yeah.
05:06And then you're literally going to feed the irons in the S direction.
05:12Now, it can look complicated, but you know, honestly, the best way to try this style is
05:16try it on someone else and then do it on yourself.
05:19I think if you try it on someone else, you'll get the method of like, you know, the S wave.
05:23But it gives yourself a free, you know, practice.
05:25And the thing is with, you know, waves is it's supposed to be undone.
05:28It's not supposed to be like a set now.
05:30So it doesn't have to be super perfect.
05:32And then once you get kind of into the rhythm, it's relatively, you know, repetitive.
05:36And once the hair is setting, you can go over it and just pinch it in a little more if
05:40you want a little more wavy.
05:43So, Chris, you've worked with so many celebrities.
05:47What is your best celebrity moment to date, would you say?
05:53A celebrity moment?
05:54It's a little bit of all the people I work with.
05:57You know, it's just someone in the salon or a celebrity.
05:59I think, I don't know, really.
06:04Okay.
06:05What would you say?
06:06My favorite.
06:06What's your favorite celebrity moment of mine?
06:09I love Kim's icy blonde hair.
06:12Oh, the blonde's so cute, right.
06:14With the like, really like undone waves.
06:18Yeah.
06:18Wet waves, right?
06:19Yeah.
06:20The wet waves are really cool.
06:21We can maybe show that look after how I create the wet waves.
06:24Yeah.
06:24I love that.
06:25The wet waves is not so different to this, but it's just using a different product to
06:28create like that moisture in there.
06:30Okay.
06:32They're good.
06:33She looks amazing.
06:36She's super, super pretty.
06:38You know.
06:39She suits the blonde, right?
06:41I think the blonde is so fun.
06:42Yeah.
06:43With a little bit of root.
06:44Yeah.
06:45I think it looks really good.
06:46I'm all about the root.
06:47Yeah.
06:49So cool.
06:51Can you see that?
06:53It's so easy as well.
06:54I just can't believe it.
06:56It's very, it can be very old Hollywood glamour, right?
07:00Well, the thing is you can, but it's like more of a modern take on it.
07:03Yeah.
07:03Honestly, like the wavier you make it, it can look more that way.
07:07And kind of like the looser you make it, it can look more relaxed.
07:10I'm going to shake it all out after.
07:12So I'm actually doing some tighter and some looser.
07:14Okay.
07:15Because I want some variation.
07:16Yeah.
07:27But it's just a different take on a wave.
07:32And probably easier than using tongs, right?
07:35I just feel like the flattening irons a lot of people struggle with.
07:37They're always like, I can't hold it properly.
07:39I feel like people have become more, you know, flexible with using a flattening iron.
07:45You know, like, don't get me wrong.
07:46I mean, I'm, I, I love, I can't in Ireland.
07:49I think it has its point, but I think for the consumer or the, you know, someone doing
07:52at home, like you guys, this is an easier way of creating, you know, a cool wave.
07:57And it's really nice as well.
07:59If you've got naturally textured hair, because you can just enhance it, you know, let's move
08:03you to the side.
08:03Now we'll do the back, the back, we're just going to do the same regarding the sections.
08:07You just need to make sure that, you know, you take the section, um, that's going
08:11to fit into the irons.
08:13So, you know, if you've got larger irons, you can take a bigger section.
08:16And if they're smaller, I'd say take a smaller section.
08:19Okay.
08:21Do you prefer the thinner ones?
08:24I tend to use the thinner ones.
08:25Yeah.
08:25But you can use the bigger ones.
08:26I mean, the bigger ones would be quicker, you know, see, whatever you've got.
08:29Okay.
08:29Okay.
08:31And you're just going to do the same thing.
08:38So we're just clamping the hair, and an S shape.
08:46Can you make that table?
08:47Sure.
08:48We can edit, like, some of this out, Philip, I reckon, like, just.
08:54Can you see?
08:59So as we mentioned before, you do have a few hair extensions in, so this is, you know,
09:02a great way of showing people that if you do have extensions in, you know, you can still
09:06create the look.
09:08And if you don't have extensions in, you can still create the look, you know?
09:11Mm-hmm.
09:14Telling everyone your secrets.
09:15I know.
09:20I think everyone knows.
09:22I've been since I was, like, 16.
09:26I think they're great for fine hair, you know, if you can zoom hunter.
09:30Or if you just want some extra lamp.
09:36So you don't need to hold the, um, straightener on the hair for too long.
09:42Just enough dust to warm it up.
09:46Push the hair into place.
09:57I won't talk for this bit, because I don't think you'll be able to hear me.
10:06I love that stuff.
10:07It's good, right?
10:08Yeah.
10:11Smells nice.
10:13It has a great texture.
10:15Heat protection.
10:18Does it have, like, a dry shampoo effect at the roots as well or not?
10:21Gives it, yeah, yeah.
10:22All the volume we need, yeah.
10:23Amazing.
10:48I don't know.
10:53I don't know.
10:59So do you reckon we could just put music over to this bit maybe?
11:03Yeah.
11:03I'd like to speed it up a bit.
11:08What music would you use?
11:11I don't know.
11:12I'll find something.
11:14Might use the same one that we used for Rimmel.
11:16I'll see if it works.
11:17What was that?
11:19I don't know.
11:20It was something.
11:21It was a piece of piano music.
11:27Oh no, it's not elevator music, is it?
11:30No.
11:35How much do you live in L.A.?
11:37In Hollywood.
11:38Nice.
11:39West or no?
11:43Do you like it?
11:44Yeah.
11:45Yeah.
11:50Do you miss the UK or not really?
11:52No.
11:53No.
11:54Don't let's spot I know.
11:58Lots more.
12:01Can we open the door or say?
12:02Is it misty in there?
12:14Can't brew.
12:16Can't brew.
13:21See you later.
13:33Okay, so there are the waves, as you can see, and then what we're going to do is we're
13:39going to use more of the Starland Star Road so you can really build this up in the hair
13:43and you can put this into the root for more volume.
13:45I'm just going to blast it in and then I'm going to shake the waves out.
13:56I love how loose the waves are because I find that I struggle to create that with a curling
14:00tongue.
14:01You do?
14:02Yeah.
14:02Yeah.
14:04And you can just shake it out to create that really cool kind of piecey finish.
14:09I mean, it's kind of really effortless, you know, it doesn't look too done.
14:13I love this.
14:15It's kind of very kind of Kate Moss, which is cute.
14:17And just use your fingers just to pull out the hair and create, you know, a little bit
14:21more texture.
14:24And you can even, you know, just tuck one side down the air a little, you know, keep it super
14:28chill.
14:29It's feminine and it's a kind of pretty shape on the face as well with those little, you
14:33know, S waves in there.
14:36But I like the fact that you've got the wave, but you've not got like excess volume.
14:41Yeah.
14:41It's just relaxed.
14:42Yeah.
14:43I like this.
14:43It's true and it's sexy.
14:44This is how I'd buy my hair all the time if I could.
14:47Well, now you can.
14:48Well, now I can.
14:49And you know, you can feel it's not sticky at all.
14:51So it's got some volume in, but it's not sticky.
14:53Yeah.
14:53It's just textured.
14:54Yeah.
14:55So guys, that's how you create the flat iron wave.
14:57Super easy to use.
14:58Make sure you've got your styling steroids in there.
15:00That will help you styling and really build up the volume.
15:03But it's a cool take on a wave.
15:05I think it's a modern finish.
15:06It's not too big, but you still got all that texture.
15:09You look great.
15:10Thanks, Chris.
15:11You're welcome.
15:11And thank you for watching, guys.
15:12You look good?
15:12Yeah, I look great.
15:13I'm going to be touching you up all day now.
15:15I love it.
15:15Give it a little shake.
15:17Yeah.
