00:01Hi, hello viewers. My name is Michelle Johnson and I'm here with the lovely Rochelle Humes who has partnered with
00:07Savisei for their first ever baby food. How did you get involved?
00:11Well, I got approached by Savisei, my first Savisei, to come on board and I was so thrilled, so so
00:18thrilled because I'm always putting a lot on my story as well on Instagram or whatever it is.
00:23So just I'm trying to consciously make an effort to get the best food down, not only me and, you
00:28know, and Marvin, but our children more so, you know, so perfect fit.
00:34And I'm so, so proud and so excited to be like a small part of this. Yeah, it's amazing. Absolutely
00:40amazing.
00:41As mum to Aliyah and Valentina now, have you found that with, I mean, I don't suppose Valentina is old
00:48enough yet to be thinking about weaning her off.
00:50But have you found any differences in how you approach it compared to how you did with your first daughter?
00:56I'll probably do exactly the same as I did with Aliyah. With Aliyah, she was a very, really hungry baby
01:01and she, I knew, I just knew when it was time to wean her.
01:05You know, there's guidelines and they say around six months, but I did do her at four, which, you know,
01:11is fine, every baby's different.
01:12And I'll probably do the same with Vali, actually, because she, she's, I produce, I think they just take after
01:18me, because I consume so much during my pregnancy that they come out really hungry.
01:23They just, they want to eat all the time. But yeah, she's the same. So I think that I'm so
01:28excited to sort of, obviously these weren't around when I had Aliyah, so I'm excited to give these a while
01:34on Valentina.
01:34Aliyah did test some of these for me actually. Did she? Yeah, she was kind of just like doing it
01:39like a smoothie, you know, squeezing the whole thing in half, but she loves them.
01:42And it's interesting because we've heard today about how they're cold pressed and so there's no pasteurization.
01:49Is, is baby food something that you really thought about when you were looking at weaning off Aliyah and when,
01:55when you're looking at it in front, or is it all kind of new science to you?
01:57Well, when I first started weaning, um, Aliyah, obviously she's my first, so I was like constantly putting things into
02:04Google and, you know, reading mum blogs and whatnot.
02:07Um, so I, I started doing everything at home. Everything was, you know, something I'd done and then that batch
02:12was, oh, and I actually did my own head in about it.
02:15Um, but then obviously then I went back to work and it's, it's near on impossible to kind of be
02:21everywhere at once and wear both hats.
02:23We've heard today again that a lot of, a lot of mothers, two thirds of mothers feel pressured or feel
02:29judged from others about, did you find that as well?
02:32Absolutely. And especially going to work and stuff, you're like, oh my goodness.
02:36And you're looking down your feed and you're at work and trying to do both and my mum's popped over
02:41and then, you know, handed out and, and the chaos that happens in your house.
02:46And then you're looking down your feed and you're seeing someone that's like, you know, roasting a butternut squash and
02:51doing this and doing that and coming up with all these inventive ideas for lunch and you just feel awful.
02:56So as much as you want to try, and I do, I really do, if I'm off, that's exactly where
03:00my head's at.
03:01But it just, it's not always that easy, is it? Yeah.
03:04We, you know, as soon as you're a parent, you get that and you're like, oh gosh, you know, it's
03:07not as easy as we thought.
03:08So this is going to be a lifesaver for lots of people. No salt, no sugar, no, it's just exactly
03:13how it should be.
03:14And what about Marvin? Do you think he felt a bit of that pressure as well? Do dads feel the
03:18same thing, do you think?
03:19Well, no. I'm not sure, I'm sure they do, but he just sort of goes along with whatever I say.
03:25And he's just sort of like, oh, okay, we're doing that now and she's changed her mind, she's now into
03:30this style of weaning.
03:31So, but I think, I just think as, as parents in general, we both want to make sure that, you
03:36know, our kids are always getting the best.
03:39Yeah. And that's, that's, that's all, that's all you want.
03:41So he just sort of knows what I'm like and knows that I would have researched into something new that's
03:45probably better and sort of lets me go with it and does this, does this instructive.
03:50When it comes to kind of outside influences and outside that, that feeling of judgment or pressure, do you think
03:56it's easier with your second one?
03:58Do you think it's been a little bit easier with Vali?
03:59A million percent. You trust yourself. You know, you know that I've, I've raised one child already and she's got
04:05to four and she's okay.
04:07She's doing really well. So I think you trust your own instinct. I think the first, the first time everyone's
04:11telling you what you should do.
04:13Yeah. And has, you know, you should be doing this, you should be going this and you sort of go
04:16along with it.
04:16You end up buying so much that you don't need because you think it's the best thing.
04:21And I think the second time you sort of say, I won't get that because I didn't use that last
04:24time.
04:25And you just sort of trust yourself. And I think you can enjoy the experience a little bit more because
04:29your head's already around the whole whirlwind phase.
04:33Although you do forget what it's like to have no sleep.
04:34Yeah. And when you were weaning off Alea and getting her on solid food, were there any, were there any
04:41funny moments where you kind of thought,
04:43wow, I can't believe she's eating this or, or that you just couldn't quite get her to.
04:47Yeah. I think when I was putting her on solid, she, she said, and she still is obsessed with olives.
04:52When I was a little girl, that would be like my worst nightmare in olive. And she's like obsessed with
04:58them.
04:58Wow. Yeah, whenever we go, if we were eating out or if we're, she's like, have you got any olives?
05:02They're like, at my friend's house. They're like, no, I haven't got olives.
05:04That's such a natural choice. You know, yeah, it's so random, I know. So yeah, that was, that was a
05:08bit of a shocker.
05:08Would you have any advice for mums who are maybe feeling a bit of that pressure or who want to
05:13get the best food for their kids?
05:15I think, yeah, I think just obviously pressure is only what you put on yourself. And I think you can
05:21be so, you sort of exhaust yourself by looking into everyone else's life and seeing how they're doing it.
05:27But I think as long as you've got a healthy, happy baby, what more do you want, you know? And
05:31I think that, and remember, I think a lot has changed at social media as well.
05:35I think that's a, that's a lot of it. And I think just in everyday life, I think that puts
05:38the pressure on people.
05:39But I think people only post, and we're all guilty of doing it, the best parts of their life.
05:43Yeah. They're not going to post the, the Monday morning where they're trying to get everyone out for the school
05:47run and the baby's crying.
05:48And then they've just done a really messy nappy, but you've still got to get to school and everything else
05:51because that wouldn't make for a good Instagram post.
05:54And you couldn't filter that and make that look pretty. So just, I think just know that, just stay in
05:59your own lane and trust yourself.
06:02Thank you,
