00:05It's so joyful, it's so romantic, it's so funny, it's so deep, it's at moments really
00:12frightening I think it's kind of one of these films that is just really universal.
00:16My responsibility to my childhood self who loved this book and this fairy tale and read
00:22this to my children so many times and you know the number of times we've enjoyed the
00:25animated film as well and we made it with such a love for the original.
00:30For me it's just that she's so non-judgmental, she is able to see past Beast's exterior and
00:37even his bad temper frankly and to see that there's kind of a vulnerable and loving man
00:47underneath or human even and I think that people could learn a lot from Belle.
00:54I'm very excited about it because I think it's a very good film and I think Em Watson
01:00representing Belle in her feisty feminist way is just superb and deeply lovable and loving
01:09and Dan Stevens is fantastic as the Beast, really fantastic.
01:14The cast is amazing and I was only in it for a very short time you know because I'm a
01:20teapot
01:20for most of them obviously you know crockery comes naturally to me but I only had like a couple
01:27of two or three days on it but the time I had on it I just thought oh can't we
01:30just do something else
01:31can't we just let's just do King Lear or something together we had Ian Magellan he could have done it.
01:41You must leave here this castle is alive who's there do you wish to take your father's place come into
01:49the light
01:54classic fairy tales have timeless messages in them and I think every generation that comes to them find
01:59something different in them and you know they they bear retelling that's the mark of any great story
02:03you know you can you know watch a movie that's very impressive but maybe not want to revisit it
02:07but you know these movies are loved so much.
02:10You only take on a role like Gaston if you feel like you're going to have fun playing him even
02:13though
02:13he is dastardly and self-absorbed to such a level it's extraordinary but it's fun you know
02:21he's a larger-than-life narcissist and but he's also quite charming and so I tried to play both
02:27aspects as much as I could and I hope people can laugh at him as much as hate him by
02:33the end of the
02:33film. I get to sing the song and I honestly that for me I rang Angela Lansbury because she's a
02:40great
02:40mate and I rang her I said I've got to sing it what am I going to do because you're
02:45how am I going to
02:47you know make it different and she said oh darling she said don't she said it's the song
02:53just go and sing the song forget about me go and sing the song it needs everyone needs to sing
02:59it
02:59every generation she gave me such she gave me such a pattern you know she gave me a bit of
03:04confidence
03:04because I was a bit worried about it but it was such a treat to sing it
03:09I say we kill the bees
03:13think of the one thing you've always wanted now find it in your mind's eye and feel it in your
