00:01I'm currently the head stylist on this season's The Voice UK, which is being aired on ITV.
00:07Once we'd gone through the blind audition process and the battles, I was left with 24 contestants
00:13and I had to mood board each act. And they are all so different. There's some very young,
00:20gorgeous girls, there's some slightly more mature women, there's a couple of duos, there's
00:26some kind of rocky boys. So I basically mood boarded every single act. Each week I will
00:33find out what they're singing and my job is to find them the perfect outfit that fits their
00:39character, their song, their staging, lighting, absolutely everything. So I work quite closely
00:45with the guy that does all the staging and then there's somebody else that does choreography
00:49and lighting and we sit and kind of go through all the creatives. But my job is to work out
00:55what they're wearing. So whether it's a hat, necklace, dress, boots, shoes, everything.
01:01There are two. There's a girl called Tanya Lacey, who is my most avant-garde act, I would say,
01:07and I can go all out. So she's, she can do crazy jewellery and hats and amazing shoes and she's
01:15got a really incredible look. And there's another girl called Truly, who's got this lovely sort
01:20of bohemian, fairy kind of gorgeous 70s vibe about her. So it's lovely kind of taking that,
01:27what she already has and building upon it for stage. So in terms of the coaches, they don't
01:33have a huge input when it comes to what their acts are wearing. But they do always make comments
01:39and what's lovely is that Jennifer is the first to say, I love that outfit. I want it in my
01:44wardrobe.
01:45Tom very often comments on what they're wearing. So it's great for me that they love what I'm putting
01:51the acts in. The coaches styles are, they couldn't be for more varied people. You've got obviously
01:57Gavin, Gavin, who's our kind of rock god. And he's very laid back, very charming and he dresses perfectly.
02:04Will, slightly kookier. I love what he wears. He's always wearing a hat, wears shorts a lot.
02:12But I love his style. Jennifer, she's just our kind of American goddess. She can pull anything off.
02:22And Tom, Sir Tom, I should say, is a very smart man. The legend that is Sir Tom.
02:29So the best way to find your style is get to know your body really well. Like once you know
02:34your body shape, you'll know what suits you. And then you can build your style from there.
02:39I always say don't necessarily wear what's really trendy. I'd much rather be stylish than trendy.
02:47And that comes from dressing for your body. So, you know, just because pink is in this season,
02:52it doesn't mean you have to wear it if it's not going to suit you.
02:55Yes, I think there are so many misconceptions about bodies and body shape. And I think, you know,
03:00you can be really tall and wear a long dress and heels. But equally, I think if you're petite,
03:06you can still wear a long dress, you just wear it in a slightly different way. And it's the same
03:12with a jumpsuit.
03:13A lot of short people think they can't wear a jumpsuit because their body's short or their...
03:17But it may be that you just need to put a belt around the middle to break it up a
03:21bit.
03:21So there are ways of taking an item and making it work for your body.
03:27There are so many women who I think dress amazingly.
03:32So I think someone like Christina Hendricks, phenomenal dresser, knows her body shape,
03:38knows what suits her, isn't afraid to show off her fabulous curves.
03:43And she does it so well. So I totally admire her style.
