00:01Hello, my name is Michael Prager. I am a cosmetic doctor. I live and work in London from 25 Humboldt
00:06Street.
00:07I just see the Botox more almost as a medical treatment because if somebody has a big frown line,
00:14then more than likely they have headaches, tension, other effects that we can really reduce and improve their well-being
00:22a lot with the Botox.
00:23So, from that point of view, we are not so focused on the cosmetic. We are actually focused on the
00:28usable effect of the Botox.
00:30And there is a lot of those. I think we focused for too long on the cosmetic side only, which
00:36gave the whole branch and medsing a bit of a bad reputation,
00:42I believe, because if practitioners give people what they want, then it's a bit like MTV.
00:49It's not necessarily improving the quality of the treatments. So now, migraine, for instance.
00:57Initially, no one would have thought that Botox works for migraine, but the Botox patients came back after three to
01:05four months and said,
01:06Ooh, my migraine is so much better. Can you do this again? And same with, for instance, mood, depression, overall
01:15well-being and the way people feel.
01:17So, I think a lot of my patients come back because they actually like the way the Botox makes them
01:22feel, rather the way it makes them look.
01:25There is not one spot in a patient's body that I would have injected without having mine. I injected myself
01:31there first.
01:32But, yeah, I started in 2000, 2001, and 2002 Christmas, for instance, I did what a lot of celebrities and
01:43a lot of people out there most probably associate,
01:45or are associated with a bad Botox. I overdid it and my smile was rather strange. The same I did
01:52to my then girlfriend, Christina, now my wife.
01:56So, both of us looked really stupid for Christmas because I had the idea of doing Botox here and here,
02:02and it affects the smile.
02:04So, when you smile like this, it's a nice smile. When you do Botox here and here, in abundance, then
02:12the smile becomes rather like this.
02:15And I even had a magazine shoot at the time. So, in that article, it looked rather strange.
02:21And Christmas, my mother said, when I went home there, she said, I don't know, this London is not good
02:26for you.
02:26You can't even smile anymore. Of course I couldn't, but it did wear off service line.
02:31First of all, you have to be clear on your indication. What is it that you want?
02:36Botox is not really a treatment for facial lines, and that was the mistake in the past.
02:42People did for too long. It treats muscle movement. So, if you are a compulsive browner, or if you are
02:50a grinder,
02:50or if you have any sort of excessive tension, that would be a Botox streamer.
02:56If you are tempted to use thermal fillers as well, just use those that are FDA approved, and there is
03:04only, I think, eight of those.
03:05And don't even think about having a practitioner inject you with anything that is CE marked only, because that is
03:14trouble.
03:15So, safety first, FDA approval, a good thing. Not to forget, you can see our exclusive Hello Photoshoot in this
03:23week's issue on Monday.
