00:06Very much.
00:08What are the challenges of working with someone like Danny?
00:10Because he's quite a perfectionist and has a real legacy.
00:13No, I think just not letting him down.
00:15He comes to work every day very sort of pumped up and very passionate and very positive,
00:23very patient, so I just don't want to, I have a part to play in telling a story
00:27and I just don't want to, you know, let them down, any of them, you know,
00:30whether it be all the actors, but mainly Danny, you know.
00:33He's so passionate and he was, you know, he sort of really does,
00:37he's infectious, you know, his energy on set.
00:40You know, in the sense that we did get that time in the rehearsal room
00:42that we really couldn't have done without,
00:45because by the time we walked onto the set, we were already on Performance 100
00:49because we'd been doing it so many times for ten days straight in the rehearsal room,
00:52and so that not only was a very time saving,
00:55because we didn't have long to shoot the film in,
00:57but it also meant that we were really rooted in these parts,
01:01and all of us felt quite confident, you know, about playing them,
01:03which at the end of the day when you're an actor it's 30% skill,
01:0670% confidence, I'm not even joking.
01:09What is my opinion?
01:10I think he was an exceptional person with a lot of drive, focus, passion,
01:17and just saw technology as an art form as opposed to just a functionary thing.
01:25And, you know, before Steve Jobs, you know, we looked at computers as scary things,
01:29or they were for analysts, so it was like 2001 or the IPCRIS file
01:33that they were going to be at the end of the world.
01:34Maybe they will be, but now, you know, we have relationships with the devices, you know.
01:40Like Danny said, people go to bed with their iPhones, with their computers.
01:43Sometimes it's the last thing we do before we go to bed at night.
01:46That was all down to him.
01:47Well, the fascination with him is his continuing legacy that we all live every day.
01:51He, and the story of the film is that what we once thought,
01:55and it's difficult for somebody as young as you to remember this,
01:57but when computers first really appeared in our lives,
02:01they were huge machines that were incredibly intimidating.
02:04And this man's vision was that these were going to be your friend,
02:08and it was impossible to imagine,
02:09and therefore he caused such damage in a way trying to establish that idea
02:14that not only would it be your friend,
02:16but it would be, you would share with it every intimacy you ever have, which we do.
02:22It's got pictures of your lovers in it, all your bank details, everything's in there,
02:26and you take it to bed with you, literally.
02:28So how do you get to that place, and that's the story.
02:32And so you need an actor who's got a sense of vision, and Michael has that.
02:37He has that intensity of focus that gives you a sense of belief in a vision,
02:41and he's trying to make everybody believe in this one story.
02:50What do you do?
02:51You're not an engineer.
02:53You're not a designer.
02:55You can't put a hammer to a nail.
02:57I built the circuit board.
02:58The graphical interface was stolen.
03:01So how come, ten times in a day,
03:04I read Steve Jobs as a genius?
03:06What do you do?
03:09Musicians play their instruments.
03:11I play the orchestra.
03:12You're a orchestra, and you're a professor.
