00:02Hello, I'm Kelly Hoppen and I'm here to give you some wonderful tips on how to make your guest
00:07bedroom feel really welcoming. A guest room is often left untouched, becomes a storeroom,
00:13and in fact it could become something really inviting. So if you want to make your guest
00:18room feel more inviting, obviously the first thing is the bed. So you would choose your
00:21wonderful cotton bedding, but then you could have like a throw at the end of the bed which
00:26kind of just really flanks the bed and it means that you don't have to have a whole
00:31cover on your bed and especially in summer now when you're doing something
00:34that you want to feel more fresh and inviting. White linen looks fantastic, but
00:39then for me what is really important is having these kind of cushions because it
00:42just feels like when you make your bed in the morning and you put the cushions on
00:47it just looks like it's manicured and it's finished. So the benefits of US
00:51cotton are not only the way it looks but it's the way it feels and it's also the
00:54durability. The more you wash this, the softer it will become. Honestly touching it
01:00now you couldn't think it could get any softer, but it's like a really good pair
01:03of shoes. The more you wear it the softer they become. And then obviously next to
01:08the bed you've got your bedside table so you could have a piece of coral, you
01:11could have a wonderful vase with some lilies, a scented candle, and then you
01:15could have books underneath. It's all about finding that balance so you have your
01:19bed, you have your bedside tables, everything is about balance in a room and
01:23then of course your lighting is all important in a bedroom. So you want
01:27fabulous dim lights, low-level lights if possible, and then you have to think
01:31about what you want on your windows. Do you like to have the sun shining in in the
01:35morning or do you like to have it all dark? So the textures that you choose on
01:39your windows are actually need to relate to what you're doing in on the bed area.
01:43So everything goes together and it flows. Sometimes guests feel a bit
01:47uncomfortable about staying in someone else's home, but if they walked into a room
01:50looking like this they wouldn't do anything but want to stay. A guest bathroom is
01:57really important in your home. You want to welcome your guests. So a bathroom is a
02:01really hard room. You've got tiles, you've got marble, you've got stone, you've got
02:07ceramic. So how do you soften that up? Well you soften it up by having wonderful
02:11little accessories, scented candles, your lighting's got to be good, but most of all
02:16you want US cotton towels. How wonderful would it be to have a wonderful cotton
02:21dressing gown, some slippers and beautiful cotton towels and all the
02:25accessories that go with it. In all the years that I've been designing my own home
02:29I always try and make my guest rooms and guest bathrooms feel really comforting
02:33and inviting and it gives me enormous pleasure to see my guests enjoying what I've
02:38done for them. So you can do that too. It doesn't take much but those little tiny
02:43things really count.
