00:02It's my speciality, Powerful Women, from my mother, my sister and now my wife.
00:09So it was an absolute handful.
00:12No, it was absolutely fantastic working with both of them.
00:16Karina, you know, when you are a young first-time filmmaker,
00:20there is only one person who's going to get your film made, and it's you.
00:23And her drive vision for the film, her gumption, her never-say-die approach,
00:31helped by Barbara Broccoli's never-say-never approach, if I may,
00:36helped get the film made.
00:38But it has to come from Karina. She drove it forward.
00:41She bonded everyone when we were there.
00:43She wanted everyone to feel a responsibility for the film,
00:45to feel that they had a part in the movie, crew, everyone.
00:49And Andrea came along and just did what Andrea does best,
00:52which is be brilliant.
00:54And we all supported each other as much as we could.
00:57It was, you know, roll your sleeves up, put your wellies on filmmaking,
01:01you know, on a low budget.
01:03And they can be the most rewarding experiences
01:06because you create families, and that's what we did.
01:09When it comes to your career, stage, TV, and now film, of course, as well,
01:13which one do you prefer? How do you get on with them?
01:16I love all of them. They're all different.
01:18Grants is always greener.
01:20When you're doing one, you want to be doing another.
01:22And I've heard a rumour that you'll be working with your wife
01:25in a project next year. Is that true?
01:27Next year?
01:29I'm always about to work with my wife, but we can't find time to do it.
01:34So I'll let you know.
01:35Is that something you'd like to do?
01:37Many things. She's brilliant.
01:41I hadn't read such a richly character-driven piece for a while.
01:48You know, Karina obviously put a lot of heart and soul into it.
01:53I mean, I know she did.
01:55And the fact that, you know, Damien and Andrea were involved.
02:00I just, you know, it was a dream to have worked with them on my first film.
02:05And, yeah, yeah. I mean, the character itself, you know, he's a kind of gift of a character for a
02:14young actor like myself.
02:15So I was pretty lucky.
02:18Working with Andrea and Damien, what were they like to direct?
02:20They're amazing. They're amazing.
02:22They're like absolute stars.
02:24They, I mean, I learnt from both of them so much.
02:28They really, they trusted and believed in me, which was such an honour.
02:32You know, I wasn't a famous director.
02:34They read my script.
02:35They met with me.
02:36They gave me the time of day.
02:38And they took a leap of faith.
02:39And that's, you know, that's so important.
02:42As artists together, you know, to feel that people believe in you.
02:47And, you know, as a young woman, to feel that I could, you know, give it a go.
02:51And I feel we've really delivered.
02:52It was a real honour to work with them.
02:54I love them dearly.
