00:19I think it's such an important thing to have teach kids at an early age. It's a life skill really.
00:25There's water everywhere, like in seas, in rivers, so it's very important for people to keep them safe around water.
00:32Swimming is such an enjoyable sport. You can have fun, like what we do today, but it's also a great
00:38fitness sport as well.
00:40But I think it's really good, this Swimtastic Award, getting kids involved.
00:44They weren't just trying swimming, they were trying loads of different sports, like water polo, synchro.
00:49Even I was into trying something new that I had never tried.
00:53So this event here is great to get kids involved and get kids motivated by meeting us, getting them inspired
01:01by being the next Olympian or Paralympian.
01:04It's been wonderful because I get to meet Olympians and it's so great because I've been watching them on TV
01:12and I've actually met them.
01:14My favourite's been Ellie Simmons because she's a role model for me and other people because she's a great swimmer.
01:24I'm very proud because I wanted this award to the start and now I've actually got it.

02:10It's been a fantastic day and well I watched the Paralympics but I have to say I didn't
02:15watch an awful lot because I felt sorry for myself thinking oh you know I never had that
02:19opportunity when I was little. It's amazing, I'm 31 and it's amazing to see how much disability
02:24sport has come on. So now that I've met all these people I'm going to take far more notice
02:30when it comes to Rio.
02:37I've been fortunate enough to host the Swimtastic Awards for the last five years and it's just
02:42basically to celebrate the fantastic stories that go on in the world of swimming. I don't
02:46think anything like this did exist. The Kellogg's Awards have been going since the early 90s
02:51now and it just gets bigger and better every year and I think we're going to have hundreds
02:55of people here tonight and it's swimming's Oscars. All the kids and all people from all different
03:01walks I like are coming up to celebrate swimming. It's going to be brilliant.
