The Haghia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul

Hagia Sophia, located in Istanbul, Turkey, is a famous historic building. It was built as a Christian church in 537 AD. Later, it became a mosque in 1453, then a museum in 1935, and it is now a mosque again. It is known for its huge dome and long history.HistoryFirst Building: Built by Emperor Constantine in 360 AD, but it burned down.Second Building: Rebuilt in 415 AD, but it was destroyed during a riot in 532 AD.Third Building: Built by Emperor Justinian I between 532 and 537 AD. This is the building that stands today.Ottoman Period: Conquered by Sultan Mehmed II in 1453 and turned into a mosque. Minarets and Islamic features were added.Modern Era: Became a museum in 1935, and changed back into an active mosque in 2020.
