00:00The wheels of NASA's Curiosity Mars rover have taken some serious damage.
00:05In new photos shared by the space agency, you can see deep gouges and cracks all throughout
00:11the wheels on Curiosity rover. Now this car-sized rover weighs about a thousand pounds and since
00:17August 2012 has been exploring Mars's Gale Crater searching for signs of ancient life
00:24in the Red Planet soil. Now in that time it's driven over 20 miles, about 32 kilometers, across boulders
00:31and rocks and through ruts in the Martian soil and all of that has caused some wear and tear on
00:37the
00:37wheels. Now despite that, NASA says the rover is doing just fine. In a 2024 update, NASA said this
00:45damage to the wheels isn't going to stop Curiosity's mission and that we can expect much more science
00:50science from the rover.
