This document has been edited on the basis of recorded interviews and video shootings of work sessions on CRONOS during the first period, February to May 1994 in New Delhi, India. Video excerpts are not in chronological order. The primary aim of these recordings was to supply material for the analysis of the creative process. Only later we decided to edit a document for public distribution. Visual quality is that of camcorders in that period (video 8 format)!

Le présent document a été assemblé à partir d'enregistrements de discussions et de vidéos des séances de travail sur CRONOS (première période: février à mai 1994) à New Delhi (Inde). Les extraits de vidéos ne sont pas dans l'ordre chronologique. Initialement, ces enregistrements étaient destinés à servir de support à une analyse du processus créatif. Ce n'est que plus tard que nous avons eu l'idée de publier un document. La qualité visuelle est celle de caméscopes de l'époque (format video 8) !

Having studied classical ballet for ten years, Andréine Bel began investigating “instinctive movement” in the 1970s on the basis of the Seitai school in Japan and under the guidance of François Malkovsky, a follower of Isadora Duncan. She continued on her own and felt the need to develop dance and expression techniques in a thorough study of North Indian Kathak, for which she joined Kathak Kendra in 1978 and was taught by the celebrated Pandit Birju Maharaj. She participated in the East-West Dance Encounter (Bombay 1984) with Dominique Bagouet, Susanne Linke and other renowned artists.

In 1986 she returned to Europe and founded the “Atelier de Recherche Rythmique et Chorégraphique” (ARRC). The winner of a prize in choreography with “La Légende d'Ys” (1990), she has produced a broad variety of fusion dance items, among which Salaam Lucknow, Zindegi, Okeanos, “Hommage à Olivier Messiaen”.

Andréine worked with French theatre groups “Atelier du Possible” and “Wakan Théâtre”. With the latter she directed actors in Euripides' Trojanas which was widely acclaimed in fall 1993.

Andréine has trained children and adults in dancing. She also worked with physically and mentally disabled persons.

In January 1993 she was invited by the Society for Dance Research in London. She participated in seminar “Choreographing the Other” and taught a course at the London School of Contemporary Dance. In 1994, she was granted support from Conseil Régional des Bouches du Rhône to create an intercultural dance show, CRONOS, a coproduction of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai and Théâtre Toursky in Marseille.

Andréine Bel also introduced contemporary dance in theatre workshops, notably with Natya Ballet Centre and the National School of Drama in New Delhi. She has long been involved in research work on rhythm and expressive techniques, gaining insights into the ancient Indian theory of rasa-bhava.

Returning to the fundamentals of human movement, in 2004 she initiated “Le Tilt” dance-research self-education workshops, in Aix-en-Provence, an outcome of which has been the concept of “Danse forum”.

Currently, Andréine Bel is based in Les Mayons (83340), a village of the South of France, working as a “rebouteux” (bone-setter) and Seitai practitioner. In 2014 she published a book dedicated to the Yukido approach of care giving, a rehabilitation of the Involuntary as a landmark for the return of human nature facing the posthuman dreams which are trying to control it.
