00:00:45Of the relationship between Ruth and Boaz
00:00:48And everything they represent
00:00:49Well, I thought yesterday we might finish it today

00:00:57The story here is really important
00:01:02I don't think there's one in a thousand people
00:01:06That even know there's a book of Ruth
00:01:08And sandwiched between the book of Shafat Judges
00:01:13And the books attributed to Shamuel Listen to God
00:01:19But yes, there it is
00:01:20And I don't think there's one person in a thousand
00:01:24Maybe in a hundred thousand that knows that
00:01:26The last story prior to the book of Ruth
00:01:30Is one of the most tragic ever told
00:01:33Which is in the concluding chapters of Shafat Judges
00:01:40Where there is a rape and dismemberment of a woman
00:01:44And an ensuing civil war
00:01:47That presents how decayed Israel had become
00:01:53And then this story emerges out of that
00:01:56Out of the abuse of a woman
00:01:59You have the love of a woman
00:02:01Out of a woman who was disempowered
00:02:07You have one who was highly empowered
00:02:13From a bunch of men acting badly
00:02:16We find one acting extraordinarily well
00:02:20And while that is story enough
00:02:22For us to see that bad can be overcome by good
00:02:29The principal benefit of the book of Ruth
00:02:33Is that it is prophetic
00:02:34And it's not prophetic of little things
00:02:37It's prophetic of the really big things
00:02:41You see, among the five people
00:02:45Who are the most frequent contributors to God's story
00:02:49One of them is a woman
00:02:51Her name is Ruth
00:02:53She is the Amma
00:02:55And as the Amma
00:02:56She appears throughout God's story
00:02:59Going back 6,000 years
00:03:01She is the wife of Chanuk
00:03:04She is the wife of Noach
00:03:06She is the mother of Shem
00:03:08Who is the name of Names
00:03:09And therefore also of Dod
00:03:11She is the mother of Moshe
00:03:15As the Yachobed
00:03:17The one significant to Yahweh
00:03:20She then appears here as Ruth
00:03:26The Moabite woman
00:03:28Who is so prophetic
00:03:31So profound
00:03:33So brilliant throughout this story
00:03:35And then we have Ruth returning
00:03:39As the surrogate mother of Dod
00:03:42Once he and Yahweh
00:03:44Fall out of Communicato
00:03:46And the relationship falls apart
00:03:49She plays a major role in redeeming the Redeemer
00:03:53Bringing her surrogate son
00:03:55Back into the fold
00:03:57Because she knows him well
00:03:59She was his great-grandmother as Ruth
00:04:03Then she returns with Boaz
00:04:06A thousand years later
00:04:08And they are the actual mother
00:04:10Of the kinsman redeemer
00:04:13Of Emmanuel
00:04:14Giving birth to him
00:04:16And raising him
00:04:17So that he, Dod
00:04:18Would fulfill Pesach, Matzah, and Bakudim

00:06:28Yahweh
00:06:29And yet
00:06:31Ruth restores her
00:06:34But she's not
00:06:35The only malcontent
00:06:36That needs restoring
00:06:38Although the others
00:06:39Do not show
00:06:40Any indication
00:06:42That they would be
00:06:43Restored on this day
