00:00Hi, everybody. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, despite all the challenges.
00:05And as a matter of fact, I wanted to talk to you about that very thing.
00:08In the past few weeks, I have been one of the victims of COVID.
00:14On October 30th was the only time that I ever went out.
00:18And the reason I'm sharing this is because I want you to know how highly contagious this is.
00:22I wear my mask everywhere.
00:24I went to a restaurant outdoors with some family.
00:29Three, four of us, everybody was negative.
00:33And we wore masks all the way to the table.
00:36And when we left, the only thing that I can imagine happened is that someone came up to me when
00:43I was eating and tapped me on the shoulder.
00:45They were very close.
00:46They had no mask and they were telling me beautiful things.
00:49But that's the only thing that I have done outside of my enclosure here, my quarantine with everybody in the
00:58studio,
00:58with everybody there is negative as well.
01:01On November the 5th, the reason that I realized that I had COVID was because my poor chef was the
01:09victim of me telling her that the chicken that she made me tasted like nothing.
01:13I still didn't realize it until the next day when my breakfast tasted like nothing and then my soap, I
01:19couldn't smell.
01:20And then I started freaking out a little bit like we all have been because the fear is the biggest
01:27part of this whole thing.
01:29I asked to get tested and that Sunday, I guess it was November 8th, I was positive.
01:37I locked myself away on the second floor of my house, didn't let anybody up for two weeks.
01:42I can tell you that fortunately, I'm very lucky that the only symptoms that I had were the loss of
01:49smell and taste and a little bit of a cough.
01:51I can't say that I felt bad.
01:54I really, you know, but my immune system is always firing on all pistons.
01:58I take very good care of it, which is also something I want to share with you because for years
02:02I've been taking extra D3.
02:05I take, you know, almost 6,000 units of the D3.
02:11I'm taking zinc.
02:12I've always take my vitamins.
02:14I take extra C, which all of that is very useful for anybody that may be having that now.
02:19My good friend, the infectious disease doctor, Dr. Eileen Marty, told me that melatonin is very good for the immune
02:27system or the connection with your brain and your immune system.
02:30So I was taking 10 milligrams of melatonin at night.
02:33I don't like to say brands, but Listerine, cool mint apparently kills this thing.
02:38So use that a lot to protect yourself.
02:44What else?
02:45A lot of Gatorade Zero, no sugar and hydrates you well, which I did get a little bit dehydrated.
02:52And I just want to say that I'm very thankful.
02:55I have so much to be thankful for.
02:57I've already tested negative twice last week.
03:00And the reason that I didn't share while I was going through it is I didn't want you guys worrying
03:04about me needlessly or to mess up your Thanksgiving or to take attention away from Nurse Heroes, that amazing show
03:12that Emilio put together for all our incredible nurses that have been putting their lives on the line for all
03:18of us.
03:18And right now I know we're kind of in a very big spike in Miami, it's tough here now the
03:24hospitals are reaching, you know, they're, they're full and these are the people that are really suffering from the very,
03:33you know, tough cases of COVID.
03:35I was very lucky, but I just wanted to share with you that the fact I was in quarantine and
03:41one day I went out and met with one person that did not, was not wearing a mask.
03:46I even held my breath quite honestly through their talk, but something must have happened there because I really have
03:52been nowhere else that it could have happened.
03:54I've been locked up and thank God that I wear a mask.
03:56My friend, the doctor said, maybe I got a very low viral dose, which may be why the symptoms were
04:03like that, you know, not so difficult.
04:07She said it very clearly.
04:08She goes, if you're in a war, it's not the same thing being attacked by 500 soldiers as it is
04:13by 10.
04:14So please everybody wear your masks, you know, try to stay six feet away and protect yourselves as well as
04:23you could.
04:23But also those of you that may be having this fear was my biggest problem, because since we don't know
04:30what's going to happen and sometimes you really get very afraid if you're going to be one of those cases.
04:36But, you know, you, we've got to grab fear and shake it and, you know, just do whatever you can
04:43to keep your immune system as healthy as you can.
04:45I also use B12 sublingual drops under my tongue, which is good for your immune system.
04:52I've been doing this for years.
04:53So maybe that's also the reason that I was so lucky with this.
04:58But anyway, I just wanted you to know just in case I can be helpful in whatever way.
05:03I love you all.
05:04Stay healthy.
05:05Stay safe.
05:06And looking forward to a better year next year for sure.
05:12I love you all.
05:14Bye.
05:14Bye.
