00:00¿Por qué elegí Madrid, España, para ser mi primer lugar y mi primer show en Europa?
00:06Simplemente me encanta este país mucho.
00:10I love it here.
00:11It's so beautiful.
00:12The people, la gente, la comida, the life, the architecture is my favorite.
00:21It's very inspiring.
00:22I believe that there's many different places in Madrid that inspired certain pieces of the collection.
00:30For example, there are certain caftans that I was inspired by, you know, even Plaza del Sol or, you know,
00:39even Chueca has a little bit of a history.
00:42And you'll see that inside some of the clothes.
00:45But recently, in January, I visited Segovia and I thought it was so beautiful.
00:51We went to the monastery in Segovia and we did a photo shoot there.
00:55And I think it changed my vision and it changed the way I wanted to approach fashion.
01:02I think going there touched something in my life that inspired me to push myself to not just work in
01:13a familiar place,
01:14but to push myself to be more creative and try new things.
01:20And I think that happened when I went to Segovia.
01:22You're going to see a lot of black on the runway.
01:25There's been a period of time where I've been very sad.
01:28I've been very hurt.
01:30I've been very emotional.
01:31I lost a lot in 2023.
01:34In the beginning of December, you know, I separated after 10 years with my partner and I haven't talked about
01:41this until now.
01:43And I recently, my brother passed away one day after my birthday.
01:48And the best thing that I can do in the process is design.
01:53So, work, cut, and push myself to use all these emotions, all the hurt, all the pain, all the tragedy,
02:04and put it into a collection.
02:05And throughout that time, I was feeling the color that resonated with me the most was black.
02:13Yeah.
02:13So the collection or the pieces are very personal.
02:17The first time I got to work with Beyoncé was on January 26, 2014.
02:22That was 10 years ago.
02:24I met her stylist, who is a good friend of mine now.
02:28His name is Ty Hunter.
02:29And he came to my studio in Los Angeles.
02:32And he looked around.
02:33He said, wow, these are beautiful.
02:36But what's new?
02:37What are you working on?
02:38What has no one seen before?
02:40And it was January, and my first Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show was in February.
02:46So, I gave him dresses that I had to take out of the collection just to show Beyoncé.
02:52Because these opportunities, you can't pass them by.
02:55If you pass them by, someone else will get them.
02:58Hours later, literally hours later, I was watching Instagram.
03:03And he posts a small picture of only the jewelry and the nails and a piece of the fabric.
03:10I said, what is this?
03:12What does this photo mean?
03:13What does this mean?
03:14And I was sad because I didn't think it worked.
03:18But then, one hour later, all over Instagram, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
03:23Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
03:27boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
03:30boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
03:30boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
03:30boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
03:30boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom
04:41creative director for Mariah Carey.
04:44Someone from my culture,
04:45this is not normal,
04:47from the Gitano, Romani,
04:50Kazakhstan culture,
04:51we don't really get these opportunities,
04:53but it opens a door
04:55for the people of my culture
04:56for them to see that
04:58if I can do it, everything is possible.
05:01So in Spain, I've been fortunate
05:03to dress a lot of major celebrities,
05:05but it's all due to
05:07one celebrity who's very famous here,
05:09my really good friend, Paula Chavarria.
05:12So in 2016,
05:13I became a really big fan of the show Velvet
05:15with Paula and Miguel Silvestre.
05:18I love this show.
05:20It came out on Netflix.
05:22It was in Spanish.
05:23I didn't understand it very well,
05:25but I watched the show,
05:26and that's how I was learning
05:27how to speak Spanish,
05:29Latin from Talia.
05:30Talia taught me a little bit of Spanish too,
05:32with Marimar and Maria del Barrio.
05:35So I became a fan of the show.
05:38I loved it.
05:39And my assistant at that time,
05:40he said, Michael,
05:42envia un mensaje en Instagram por Paula.
05:46Talvez ella quiere un vestido.
05:49Okay.
05:50So él escriba a Paula por Instagram,
05:53Michael, ella seguite...
05:55She follows me?
05:56See?
05:57Oh my God!
05:58Okay!
05:59Escriba!
06:00Okay.
06:01So we started talking in 2016,
06:03and we became friends.
06:04And we became friends.
06:05And we became friends.
