00:10We all knew this moment was coming and yet there was a real sense of sadness when the news finally

00:16I think we knew something was amiss obviously
00:19Seeing everyone here today as well is really bringing the emotions through
00:23Yes, and the Queen meant so much to so many people, what did she mean to you?
00:28I think you know the word icon is overused in our society but she genuinely was one
00:34And she has been in our minds and in our identity for all our lives
00:42Most people in this country have only ever known one monarch
00:45And I think it was reassuring and it gave us a sense of stability to have her here
00:52And we're now in a time where we have a brand new Prime Minister and a brand new Head of
00:56State
00:56At quite an unsettling time in history and I think that's going to make people feel a bit uncomfortable
01:00Yeah
01:02And just tell us a little bit about what we can expect to see today
01:05Kind of the order of things because it's something we've never known to happen
01:09We're going to see the new King
01:11He is going to be in London with the new Queen Consort Camilla
01:15And that is his first public appearance as King Charles III
01:19This is a really historic moment and a deeply significant one for him
01:23He's spent his whole life preparing for this moment and yet he has just lost his beloved mother
01:28So you can only imagine how much pressure he's feeling under right now
01:32Of course and what do you think is going through his head as he's having to make these arrangements
01:35Obviously it's been in preparation but I'm sure nothing can prepare you for that kind of duty
01:41Absolutely and I think you know the Prince will have been very much on top of his mother's condition
01:48Nevertheless it's still absolutely heartbreaking when it happens
01:51He has had the longest apprenticeship in history as an heir to the throne
01:55And yet you know this is a huge time of personal sadness for him
01:59So he's trying to balance his sense of duty in the way his mother did with his personal feelings
02:05So we're expected to hear from the new King and what can we expect to hear in his speech?
02:10I think Charles is going to obviously pay tribute to the Queen
02:15And I imagine he is going to put out there you know his dedication to the British people to the
02:22Commonwealth
02:23His hopes for how his reign will be
02:28And he's going to set out his store really as monarch
02:31And this is something he'll have been thinking about for a very long time
02:34And yet he'll have been poring over this you know for many hours to make sure he gets it right
02:39Yes and are we expected to hear from any more of the royal family within the next coming days?
02:46I would imagine we will hear from other children of the Queen
02:50Possibly the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Prince Andrew potentially
02:53And of course the Princess Royal
02:56Whether that's in statements or video messages remains to be seen
03:01They may speak to members of the public if they are out in public
03:05We should also hear from grandchildren in due course
03:07But there is an order of precedence so usually the children will speak first and then grandchildren

03:14And obviously Balmoral it does hold a little bit of sadness for Prince Harry and Prince William
03:19As that's where they heard that their mother Princess Diana had passed away
03:22So how do you think they must be feeling being back in Balmoral under these circumstances?
03:28I'm sure there was a big sense of deja vu for William and Harry you know
03:32One of the most painful times in their lives occurred while they were on holiday at Balmoral
03:36And that won't have been lost on them when they travelled back there to be at the Queen's bedside
03:42And it must have been incredibly sad for everyone involved
03:46But you know it was the place she loved
03:48The place which her grandchildren have said was one of the most beautiful in the world
03:53And I'm sure they'll take comfort in knowing that she was in such beautiful surroundings
03:57Of course
03:59And do we know if Princess Eugenie has flown back from Lisbon?
04:04I don't have confirmation of that but I can imagine that all the family want to be together at this
04:08moment
04:08Yes
04:09And will Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan be extending their stay in the UK?
04:13I understand that Harry and Meghan will be staying on in the UK until after the funeral
04:18We don't have word yet on whether they might bring Archie Nulliver over
04:22And whether there will be movement between both countries in the meantime
04:27But it's fair to say that they obviously want to be present for the Queen and pay tribute to her
04:32The Queen travelled to Balmoral not long ago
04:35Do you think that she would have known maybe that this would be her last journey up there?
04:41Look I think at 96 and given how frail she had become in recent months
04:46Then I'm sure people's minds were on that
04:51The fact that this might be her last visit
04:52And certainly for those of us who were here just a few months ago
04:55When she appeared on the balcony
04:57Now knowing that was the last time that was going to happen is very poignant
05:01Yes definitely
05:02And what do you think the Queen meant to the British public?
05:05I mean it's evident today with everyone here that she meant a great deal
05:09But how do you interpret that?
05:11I mean how do you sum up the Queen and what she means to all these people here
05:15You just have to look at the crowds to realise how significant her reign has been
05:20How much people loved her and loved her
05:24And the great respect they have
05:25Even people who aren't monarchists and don't believe that we should have a royal family
05:29Have huge amounts of respect for just the fact that she gave her so much stability
05:34And she was a constant in an ever-changing world
05:37Yes, and do you think the kind of pouring tributes from everybody is a good reflection of her reign as
05:44a whole?
05:45Absolutely, I think those of us who've been writing about the royal family for a long time
05:49Always knew that people would be somewhat taken aback by this moment
05:54And I think a lot of people will find themselves reacting quite emotionally
05:57When perhaps they didn't think that they would
06:00But for the Queen, you know, symbolises so much for people
06:03For many of us she was of the generation of our grandparents
06:06And she also was one of the last survivors of that wartime generation
06:09And so people really have felt connected to her in a way that goes beyond her just having been the
06:16Queen
