00:00So I've run into Des at, so we're at Dogs on the Green in Broadwater Parklands.
00:07And you're a dog naturopath.
00:10Absolutely.
00:10So I decided I didn't really want to deal with humans.
00:14Fair enough.
00:14So it was way better to deal with animals.
00:17So I decided when I was going to study that that was going to be where I concentrated my efforts.
00:23And I love it.
00:24So I've not only obviously consult about animals, but I then make all my own products as well,
00:31which then makes it even more special because then you see your products being used by your clients
00:36and seeing the repair that you do and the amount of people that come up and go,
00:41oh my God, it's just amazing, knowing it was all natural and it did what it was meant to do.
00:46And so, yeah, it's so exciting to get that feedback.
00:52And, you know, the best thing with dogs is that, you know, there's no, you know,
00:57it either works or it doesn't because nobody can convince them.
01:00Otherwise, you can't tell a dog it's going to work, you know.
01:04So, you know, it either works or it doesn't.
01:07So you're probably cutting out some of that placebo.
01:10Absolutely.
01:12Absolutely you do.
01:13And, you know, and the thing also with animals is that they give you their own feedback,
01:19you know what I mean?
01:21And so I find very much with dogs that especially, especially they become,
01:26they become, tend to be a bit more stoic and don't tell you the pain that they're in.
01:32So to actually then be able to give them something and suddenly, you know,
01:36they're going from struggling to get up, you know, to suddenly getting up and playing like puppies.
01:42I had a client who rang me that said they're half the dose of one of the supplements we do
01:46for arthritis
01:47because the dog was jumping up on the bench now.
01:51So I was like, okay, that's fair.
01:56Well, that's good.
01:57Yeah, yeah.
01:57That's so good.
01:58And again, just one of those things that if we can, you know, go back to nature with a lot
02:03of things
02:04and try our natural alternatives.
02:05And I'm the first one to say, you know, no, you need to go see your vet about something
02:10or let's use something.
02:11So especially like with itchy dogs, you know, yes, let's use our product,
02:16but also let's give them some carotide or something, an antihistamine to help like that.
02:21So I like to work with vets rather than against vets, if that makes sense.
02:26Oh, of course, yeah, yeah.
02:27And I think, you know, a lot of the vets who have actually had mutual clients go in
02:32that when they haven't been able to help them, you know,
02:35it's really interesting when you start getting phone calls from them saying,
02:38oh, so exactly what it is in your product, you know.
02:42So I can't actually, very much like Colonel Sanders and his Secret Herpes and Spices,
02:51you can't actually patent any product that's all natural.
02:54So I have to, the fact of the matter is that because all my products are all natural,
03:00they can't be painted.
03:01So the best I can do is come up with really cool names that make me stand out.
03:07So for our itchy skin, we have a product called itchy bark.
03:11And then for our dogs with bad arthritis and things like that,
03:18we have a supplement called itchy bones and another one called old mates.
03:24Oh, that's a good one.
03:26So, yeah, so at least I get a little bit of fun around the names and things like that.
03:30But, yeah, it's very much about let's have a look at alternative therapies.
03:35You know, back in the day, they were very woo-woo.
03:37Well, now I say they're very woof-woof.
03:40You know, let's move to, you know,
03:42things like the days when we used to think acupuncture was woo-woo
03:46and turmeric and black pepper was woo-woo.
03:49And, you know, now these things are becoming very mainstream.
03:51So we're trying to introduce that to our animals as well.
03:55And hopefully we get a few more vets asking a few more questions
03:59that we can then try to work together to help these guys.
04:04How beautiful.
04:05And these are all your lovely products here.
04:12Well, good on you.
04:13I think that's absolutely lovely what you do.
04:15Thank you so much.
04:15Thanks, Hugh.
04:16Thanks for talking to us.
04:17Thanks.
