Both the United States and Japan conducted a coordinated Japanese yen-buying intervention on July 31 and will not hesitate to take further action, said the governments confirming a rare bilateral action to halt the yen's slide to fresh 40-year lows.

The joint intervention is the first since 2011's action after the devastating earthquake in eastern Japan.

02:06But we make, like when we did with Argentina, I got criticized, we made $25 billion on that deal.
02:13On Venezuela, we make hundreds of billions of dollars.
02:16I make good deals.
02:17It was really, more than anything else, it was a signal of friendship.
02:24Because the yen is weakening.
02:26And the dollar is doing great.
02:28The fact is, our country is doing great.
02:31Everybody wants help from our country.
