00:29The protection can also be used outside a criminal trial, including during congressional hearings, if answering could create a risk

00:38Fauci said he acted on the advice of his lawyers, arguing that his answers could later be used to pursue
00:44charges against him.
00:45Although former President Joe Biden pardoned Fauci in 2025, Republicans say that pardon would not cover any alleged offenses committed
00:53afterward.
00:54A Senate committee is now expected to vote on whether to hold him in contempt.
