00:00when you do a film or you sign a film on basis of the script on basis of the
00:04director I would think that you want your film to be a success today if you
00:09really go to see out of ten films you have like eight films that have two
00:14heroes and two heroes or you have one hero and two heroes the Hindi film
00:17industry is really you know that's how it's happening it's I think your rapport
00:23with your director that helps you you know bring out the best in your character
00:37to start with some general questions how is it that we find you doing less and
00:45less of solos or rather negligible solo films and more and more with some other
00:49heroine or paired with or smaller roles like Astithwa or item roles that like
00:55to be very honest with you first of all Astithwa was done as a complete on a very
01:07friendly basis for Mahesh who I know very well and he wanted an established face
01:15to play that character which had only two scenes so I don't think he was in a
01:22position to ask anybody for a favor and I wasn't I'm not really sure if he thought
01:31that somebody would do it for him you know so it was because it was an out and
01:36out taboos film so it was basically if you're talking in terms of Astithwa I it
01:42was just done on a very friendly basis with Mahesh and I had just like a day
01:48shooting for it as for your next question of item songs I've done just one and I
01:56haven't done any more because that's not what I really want to do and solo films I
02:04am doing two actually right now one is a so-called art film and with Sanjay Suri
02:11it's on the lines of I would say you know about this rape victim who is an IS
02:22officer's wife it's called Bandhak and there's another film with Chandrachur which
02:30is it's about the part it's it deals with the partition of India and the very
02:39serious kind of films you know it's like it's not very I won't say if you're
02:46talking of commercial commercial cinema I mean today if you really go to see out
02:54of ten films you have like eight films that have two heroes and two heroines or you
02:59have one hero and two heroes that's how I think the flow of the Hindi film
03:05industry is really you know that's how it's happening so I wouldn't really say
03:12that it's a conscious effort I'm making to work with two girls or where there are
03:18two heroes or just one hero and two girls or whatever it's just that the scripts
03:22that interest me have two girls and if I have to sit and wait say
03:31that I don't know whether it will be worth my while because even solo projects don't
03:42really work as for like if you if you even pull out like the last ten films that have
03:49really done well they are either multi-starters or they are like you know
03:54they have two heroes or two heroines or one hero and two heroines it's
03:57basically I would think that today's way of making movies is basically you need a
04:04lot of glamour which probably and the hit and flop ratio of having a solo star as
04:12compared to a multi-star the hit ratio is much more in films like these going by
04:19what you've said so how will it sound if we ask you that you are more looking at
04:25film becoming a hit are you looking at the growth of your as an actor see I would
04:30say I'm looking at the growth of an actress if I'm not really sure if you
04:36understood what I said it's basically a you know when you choose a film on basis of
04:42its script and its director and you agree to do a film you are looking at the
04:46character that you're playing it necessarily doesn't have to be a solo
04:51character I wouldn't think that a solo film enhances your performance levels of
04:57in any way even if there are two girls in a film if you are a good actor you can
05:03show your talent films like like I've always said in the recent times there are
05:13films like Chori Chori Chupke Chupke or Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega or BB number one or
05:19essentially which are multi-starers but they are commercial successes as well as
05:24the performances have been appreciated by the masses as well so we're not looking at
05:33I'm not trying to say that by doing a solo film you're going to get the
05:39applaud or the appreciation that you wouldn't get doing to hero or to heroine
05:46films so I don't understand the I simply don't understand the concept when
05:54people say to me up solo films it me come to carry it it for me when I choose a
06:01character it has to appeal to me the director has to be capable the production
06:07has to be sound and the script has to be great and you basically make a good film
06:14when you have these three things you know working with each other in sync so
06:21basically when you have a hit formula in terms of these three things which are
06:25intertwined with each other you make a good film and sometimes a good film
06:31necessarily does not mean a hit film a good film is doing good work which is
06:36what I believe in so well to be very honest Prati Bimb is one which is a
06:44completely way out of line character for me in terms of what I'm playing it's it's
06:53like an extension of Vastav but in a more mature way so it it requires a lot of
07:00performance it requires a lot of dedication in terms of trying to portray a
07:05character which is slightly older than my age and much older than my age rather and
07:14at the same time there is another film film which is
07:21Kabi Dhoop Kabi Chhaon which is the remake of AI that is Mahesh's home
07:26production then there is Rajji's one film that we're still we haven't really
07:32finalized the details of the film and then there is one Kutub most probably which I
07:41will be doing with Maheshji so there are a few films lined up which has a very
07:49impressionable characters that I'm playing which are very central which are
07:55very very important coming to Tera Mera Sat Rai do tell us about your role in this film
08:05Tera Mera Sat Rai essentially is a film of emotions it's it's it's a film made with a
08:12social message a message that would tell people that dealing with handicapped
08:23children and giving them love is more important than trying to figure out a place
08:30for them to stay which is apart from their own home and it's a message about love
08:36it's a message about emotions it's a message about relationships how to deal
08:47with relationships of different kinds and it is a very heartwarming film I would
08:54say and my role in the film is that of a girl who is very independent who is very
09:00muphat you know like she's she's very straight to the face it's again a very
09:07different character from what I've played in most of my other films it's I would
09:10say that it is a more different version of the character I played in Al Bela but
09:16slightly more or down market it is I would like you know a girl living in a
09:26chawl basically and her attitude who is still super confident and who still wants
09:32to win the world over and she I mean she lives life by her rules basically and she
09:43would do anything to get love which is so important like I said I mean this film
09:49spreads the message of love in different forms
09:54yeah this film is sonali bhi hai ji
09:58who eventually gets the guy or is it something like that it is got nothing to do
10:03with who eventually gets the guy because this story is essentially about two
10:06brothers and it's their emotional upheavals and it is it is basically the
10:16thing about you know it's I really don't want to divulge the story at this
10:24point but it is essentially a role of it is essentially a story of these people who
10:32have come together through circumstances and then how they deal with the
10:39situations as they come along
10:41Sonali ke saath or Ajay Devgan ke saath kaam can name is this your first experience
10:46I've worked with Ajay in Kacche Dhaage
10:48How was the experience this time?
10:51But this time I worked with him a little more I had much more work with him than I did
10:56in Kacche Dhaage
10:57my work was essentially with Saif then and I hardly worked with Ajay but the
11:03little that I knew him then and what I've known him now he is as always great to
11:12work with and extremely cooperative very very genuine and very straightforward
11:21person and he doesn't have hang-ups about you know about what he does or who he is or you
11:30know and basically working with me for the second time he made me feel very very
11:36comfortable so I never had any problems with him
11:41Sonali I've known I did I know I haven't really done a film with her before but
11:51we just knew each other because we shared the same designer at one point and I just knew
11:57her because she used to also model before and I just knew her for very long so we were
12:04like really good friends we never had a problem
12:10You can't really call a film because it was a day's work and it was just you know I would
12:21say though I would love to be associated with it because it's a very well-made film but apart
12:27from that I would say work-wise after Vastav I think Tera Mera Satra is my second film with him.
12:33How do you rate and how do you find Magesh?
12:37See like I said I am very comfortable working with him and I think he is one of the best
12:48directors
12:48we have today in our industry he is a very talented person and he knows his job and he
12:53knows how to get work done from his artists he doesn't compromise as per you know like he
13:00won't say ki achha you can't do it this way then do it this way he wants it done in
13:05a certain
13:06way and you have to deliver it and he makes sure of that which is why you have such strong
13:11performances of his characters or at least characters actors who are directors actors and I think I am a
13:19director's actor so for me I think he brings out the best in me like Raj ji when I worked
13:25on Pukar
13:26with Raj ji. Raj ji is another person who is who I think is one of the best people we
13:33have and I am very comfortable
13:35working with him as well. So you know it's I think your rapport with your director that helps you you
13:47know bring out the best of
13:48bring out the best in your character and I think I am very comfortable working with both of them Mahi
13:55ji and Raj ji.
13:57Tera Mera Saath is around the corner. Yeah. What are your expectations?
14:01Well to be very honest I have been out of town I haven't really been around to hear the buzz
14:06even so I really don't know but all I can say is we have worked very hard on the film
14:12and we have done I think we have done a good job out of it and from what I hear
14:16people saying that it has turned out to be a good job out of it.
14:18It has turned out to be a great film. So as every actor expects his film to do really well
14:24at the end of the day at the box office I would expect it to do really well and if
14:29it does I guess we all will benefit from it.
14:32So tell me what is the real Namrata? Is it the choppy Namrata that we see or is it an
14:39introvert?
14:42What do you see?
14:42What do you see?
14:44I find a face which is quite peppy but…
14:48Well see different people have different opinions but I would say a lot of people think I am arrogant or
14:57they probably until they meet me.
14:59So I would say I am not arrogant and I am very friendly depending on the people I meet and
15:11see I have to get along with somebody.
15:17I am not, I won't go up to people, to strangers and say hello how are you I am Namrata
15:22and all that.
15:23If I know you or if I have met you even once through somebody or if I have been introduced
15:29to you I will make it a point to come and say hello to you.
15:32But I won't go out of my way, that's it.
15:34Thank you very much.
