00:05that they can confirm his passing in this accident.
00:08Glenn Hansard, of course, musician, songwriter, actor, Grammy and Oscar winner,
00:13he was travelling along the lower road in the Strawberry Beds
00:17here in Lucan this morning, in the early hours of this morning,
00:21when this crash occurred between Tinker's Hill
00:23and between Rugged Lane in the beds.
00:26Now, he was treated at the scene by emergency services.
00:30However, he was pronounced dead a short time later, Gardaí said.
00:34And today, Gardaí still have the scene of this crash sealed off
00:37between Rugged Lane and between Tinker's Hill.
00:40They're up here in Westminster, directing people away from the scene as well.
00:44And a forensic collision investigation is ongoing.
00:47And, of course, they are making that usual appeal that they would make in all cases
00:50for anyone who may have witnessed the crash
00:52or anyone who may have any dash cam footage
00:55and they may have been travelling in the area at the time
00:57to come forward and contact them.
00:58And they can contact them at Lucan Garda station
01:01or, indeed, at any Garda station.
01:03Now, Geraldine, just for people who may not be familiar with the area,
01:06the Strawberry Beds is a route that runs along west of the city,
01:09follows River Liffey out of the city as well.
01:13It links many of the major towns, many of the major suburbs,
01:16including Lucan, Chapel Lizard, Castlenock,
01:19and Blanchardstown in Clinsilla.
01:20But most people who travel along this route would know it quite well.
01:24Glenn Hansard, of course, himself has spoken many times
01:26about his love of motorbikes.
01:29And he would have lived not too far away for many years,
01:31just nearby, just outside of Salbridge.
01:34And his management company is saying today
01:36that his family is brokenhearted and shocked by the news.
01:40But they wish to thank the emergency services for attending the scene.
01:44And they have appealed for their privacy at this very difficult time.
