00:00The weather this year has been really hard. It's been so dry and so hot. Every crop is
00:05struggling in the heat.
00:06The Ceredigion growers are suffering basically. They're having to work very hard, trying
00:12to keep their crops alive. As a grower, your days are packed whatever the weather is. But
00:18if you get these extremes of weather and you're having to spend lots of time watering, you
00:25end up exhausted. So one of our growers in Ceredigion the other week was up all night watering
00:32his crops, trying to keep them alive.
00:34Yeah, it's going to have a big financial impact on us. If we've put all of our effort into
00:40planting, we've bought the transplants, we've prepared the ground, we've paid the employees
00:43to plant them and then they don't grow. I mean, all my cost is up front and I can't produce
00:51the produce to then sell it.
00:54If this keeps going on, if we don't get a decent amount of rain within a good week's
00:59time, I think we're going to see serious losses and we're going to see, you know, food shortages.
01:05I mean, it's always a concern for me about food shortages. That's why we do what we do
01:09to provide local people in our region with food. I mean, the best way to make sure you
01:15have food security is to support a local farm who's producing the food close to where you
01:19live.
01:19That's something I'd like to see changed. I'd like to see that Welsh kids can eat the
01:26meat that is grown in Wales, that they can eat the vegetables that are grown in Wales.
01:31And I think if you'd ask a farmer, they would want that as well. You know, somehow Welsh
01:37government needs to make that possible, that Welsh farmers can grow food for Welsh people.
01:42And I think if you want that, they can make a new place for you because there's nothing to do
01:42with my
