Audi has placed particular emphasis on the large panoramic sunroof in the third-generation Q7. The impressive influx of light into the interior enhances the airy feeling in all three rows and increases the well-being of passengers. Newly developed kinematics allow for a slimmer roof design, thus providing more headroom in both the front and rear. Switchable transparency and, for the first time, illuminated glass roofs are available as options, with the roof's color adapting to the individually selected ambient lighting. The roof can be switched between transparent and opaque in nine segments. When the Q7 is parked, the roof automatically switches to opaque to prevent views from the outside. The last setting is restored upon the next start.
A pattern in the glass panels, combined with 78 LEDs, creates pleasant lighting in the vehicle interior. The adjustable transparency allows for quick, zone-by-zone switching between a light-filled interior and effective glare protection. The standard coated laminated glass reflects IR radiation and blocks more than 99.5 percent of UV radiation. A traditional roller blind is therefore no longer necessary. An integrated wind deflector reduces wind noise when the roof is open. The panoramic sunroof can be operated via a button in the roof module or via the MMI system.
