00:04Alright, so Sony put out an ad which has Messi and Spider-Man team up.
00:09I think for the first time, they're on screen for the first time.
00:14And let's see if it's a cash grab or it's a genuine look into the new Spider-Man brand new
00:20day movie.
00:23Nuts, but we have to get there before the rush, okay?
00:28Hey, shut up.
00:30No, not you. I gotta go, I gotta go, I gotta go.
00:33So Messi shows up, he walks through the door, and Peter Parker has a oh wow moment
00:41because he recognizes him as the great Messi, one of the greatest footballers in the world.
00:47It's the equivalent of somebody, seeing somebody from the fight game,
00:50like a Muhammad Ali or a Anderson Silva, and completely mark out, completely freak out
00:57because you've seen your childhood hero for the first time.
01:00And in the comics, nor in the movies, they've never alluded to Peter Parker's Spider-Man
01:06being a fan of football, a fan of soccer.
01:10So this is a first time for the Spider-Man character to actually reveal to us, reveal to us the
01:18audience,
01:19that he is in fact a big football fan.
01:24And around the world it's called football, although in some parts of the world it is called soccer,
01:28but recognized internationally as football.
01:31So let's look at this ad a little more, and let's just see if, because this is a taste of
01:41things to come.
01:42This is a taste to us, the audience, of what the new Spider-Man movie is going to be all
01:48about,
01:48and what kind of production values it's going to have.
01:52Because I know for a fact that Messi is in the movie, he does have a short cameo in the
01:58movie,
01:58at least that's what we've been told over social media.
02:01Clips are floating around, saying that he does have a short cameo in the movie,
02:05which is kind of disappointing. I was hoping for a larger role.
02:10Perhaps not a main role, but definitely a co-starring role,
02:14and more screen time, and some more dialogue.
02:17So let's just see which way this ad goes, because it's a small taste of things to come, further down
02:23the line.
02:26Oh, you're Messi.
02:28Yeah, kid, he knows.
02:29Okay?
02:30Uh, what are you doing here?
02:33Spider-Man.
02:33The Spidey Tracker?
02:34Wait, are you looking for Spider-Man?
02:36Okay.
02:37Just, just wait here, okay?
02:39So Messi, I don't know if he can speak English in real life.
02:42I think he can speak English, but it's accented English.
02:45So he keeps saying CC Spider-Man.
02:48And, um, I don't know why they did that.
02:50They should have just given him some more dialogue,
02:53so the whole scene feels natural.
02:55With him just going CC and looking confused.
02:58Um, but anyway, we've got Peter Parker, Tom Holland,
03:01doing all the interpretation.
03:04And, um, I don't think, uh, Spanish itself is a difficult language.
03:08It's a derivative of, um, uh, it's a dialect,
03:12as some people would say, of the English language.
03:15Um, so I don't think it'd be hard for anybody to pick up on,
03:18even basic Spanish.
03:20Um, Spider-Man's well-traveled,
03:22so he should be able to speak just a little bit Spanish.
03:25Um, besides trying to understand, uh, uh, the word sea,
03:31which obviously means, yes, he is looking for Spider-Man,
03:34and he does have a Spider-Tracker.
03:36I wonder how that'll play into the movie, his Spider-Tracker,
03:39and how he uses the Spider-Tracker to interact with Spider-Man
03:43in the film world.
03:44Uh, according to the script.
03:47So let's look at this a little more,
03:49and, uh, see where it goes from here.

03:55Hey, I heard you were looking for me.
03:57Oh, there he is.
03:59Como?
04:03And, uh, Messi, having his markup moment,
04:07Messi's seen his, uh, childhood hero for the first time.
04:10Oh, his, I don't know, what is this,
04:12the fourth or fifth iteration of Spider-Man,
04:14ever since the 1970s, since the 1970s TV show.
04:18And, uh, I'm sure Messi was around for that as a kid.
04:21He saw the 1970s TV show, which was awful.
04:24Um, it had no CGI, it had no, I don't think they've been using CGI anymore.
04:30It's more like they're using AI,
04:31because AI is a lot cheaper than CGI.
04:33I'm sure it's cheaper on the production budget.
04:36Um, so he's having his markup moment.
04:38You can see it.
04:39That's some pretty good acting, by the way.
04:41Messi acting surprised, and, uh, he's, uh, marking out.
04:45And he's obviously, there's that inner child in him coming to the surface,
04:49because he's just seen his, uh, comic book hero for the first time,
04:52in person, in the flesh.
04:54So for him, Spider-Man exists.
04:56For Messi, Spider-Man is real.
04:58He's very, very real.
05:00He's standing in front of him.
05:01That's a flesh and bone Spider-Man.
05:04And, uh, that was a really nice cut,
05:06the way, uh, Peter Parker, Tom Holland, sort of, uh,
05:10has this quick change, where he just jumps and changes, uh,
05:13from his regular street clothes to his Spider-Man costume.
05:16There's a nice cut.
05:18And, uh, you can see Messi's about to start slobbering all over him.
05:22So, uh, let's just look at it a little more.
05:25Let's see, uh, where it goes from here.
05:27Clearly, it's an ad for the movie,
05:29and it's also generating hype for the FIFA World Cup.
05:32Uh, but are there any undertones?
05:35Is there anything beyond the surface of what we're watching?
05:46Well, that was it.
05:47That's the ad.
05:48And, uh, I don't think there was a lot of,
05:50there's not a lot of depth to it.
05:51It isn't Shakespeare, Spider-Man, after all.
05:54It isn't some, uh, Shakespearean classic.
05:57It is Spider-Man.
05:58And it'll always be a little goofy, always over the top.
06:01And it was goofy, a little over the top.
06:04With, uh, uh, Spider-Man taking, uh,
06:07Messi for a swing around town.
06:09And, uh, Messi's seeing city heights and skyscrapers up close and personal.
06:14And, uh, he's always been shocked, flabbergasted,
06:17that he's with his hero, his childhood hero.
06:20And he is going with, uh, with your friendly neighborhood,
06:24Spider-Man, around town on his, uh, on his webbing.
06:30And Spider-Man's a pretty strong guy,
06:32because, uh, I think what's Messi's about, what,
06:3475 kilograms, 80 kilograms?
06:36Uh, so he's got, uh, what,
06:40160 kilograms, his body weight.
06:42Uh, Peter Parker, Spider-Man's body weight,
06:44say about 80 kilograms there.
06:46So that's 80, 200, 16, 160 kilograms.
06:50He's hoisting around 160 kilograms.
06:53He's webbing around town.
06:54He's got all that gravity,
06:56all that acceleration acting on his body.
06:57And he's got Messi in his right arm.
07:00So, uh, Spider-Man's a really strong guy.
07:02He's a superhero, after all.
07:04So he's using all that spider strength,
07:06that radioactive spider strength.
07:08So swing him and Messi around town.
07:10And Messi's, uh, reaction is, is priceless.
07:13It's fantastic.
07:14Anyway, I just wanted to discuss that.
