00:05I was born in Banjol, Pauman, West Sumatra, in 1772. I was an Islamic scholar and military
00:13leader who led the Manankaba people during the Padri War, Parang Padri, from 1803 to 1837.
00:22What started as an internal religious reform eventually united the Manankaba people against
00:28Dutch colonial interference. We defended our stronghold in Banjol for years with great
00:33resilience. Although I was eventually betrayed and exiled until my last days in Monado,
00:40my fight proved that faith and unity are strong shields against colonial injustice.
