00:00Why are Aston Villa signing Alejandro Garnaccio?
00:02Name a better duo than Villa and signing Premier League wingers whose stock has tanked.
00:07First Rashford, then Sancho, then Elliott, now Garnaccio.
00:10They say Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
00:14And the initial three names didn't exactly set the world alight at Villa.
00:17But will Garnaccio buck the trend?
00:19Firstly, and most importantly, he is an Emery signing.
00:22The Villa manager wanted Garnaccio last summer
00:24and believes that he can be the man to unlock the Chelsea winger.
00:26Let's be fair here, Garnaccio was very highly rated as a Man United youngster
00:31and clearly has potential.
00:32Whilst he has to take some of the blame for the failings at Old Trafford and Safford Bridge,
00:35it's also fair to say that very few attackers thrived in the systems
00:39that the Argentinian winger was playing in.
00:40They could get Garnaccio on what would have been viewed as a bargain two years ago.
00:44They need depth, they need wingers and they need ready-made options
00:47and Garnaccio ticks those boxes.
00:49Is it cynical to suggest that they also need to do Chelsea a favour?
00:52Their £117m bid for Morgan Rodgers seemingly came from nowhere
00:57and Villa now throwing money at a player Chelsea are absolutely desperate to sell
01:01is convenient.
01:03Coincidence?
01:04Who knows?
01:04Whatever happens, Villa are unlikely to lose out too much
01:07when it comes to signing Garnaccio.
01:09They can probably recoup most of the transfer fee for him
01:12considering he would basically be Neymar in Italy or Spain.
01:14Emery has revived many a career in his time
01:17but this could have the biggest upside of the lot.
01:19So, let's see.
