00:14Lindsay, you can see this is still an active scene here on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
00:19So far, police say they believe these stabbings were entirely random.
00:23They are also investigating whether they were meant to be a hate crime.
00:27Two men in their 50s were stabbed in separate locations here on the Upper West Side of Manhattan
00:32in broad daylight around 1.30 this afternoon.
00:35One of the men is of Asian descent.
00:37The other is Jewish.
00:39And you can see that victim there on the ground.
00:42The police commissioner said the suspect was heard shouting Allahu Akbar.
00:47And that's what's leading them to work to determine whether this was meant as a hate crime.
00:51But the police commissioner was careful to say the suspect's mental health
00:55also appears to have been a factor.
00:57Police recovered a screwdriver and a knife.
01:00And tonight, the suspect, 51-year-old Raul Morales, is in custody awaiting charges.
