00:00Thank you for the witnesses for being here today. My questions will be for Ambassador Waltz.
00:06American service members are in the Middle East risking their lives in the war with Iran.
00:12How many U.S. troops have been wounded in the Iran war?
00:17My understanding from the Defense Department's latest numbers is over 100,
00:22but about 70 percent or 90 percent of those have immediately returned to duty.
00:27Okay. That number is wrong. According to the Defense Carriage Analysis System, 482 American troops have been wounded.
00:38Now, it's not surprising to me that you did not know their answer to that.
00:43The reason you are here today and in your position is because you were fired by the President from your
00:48former position as National Security Advisor.
00:51You disclosed classified information that harmed American pilots and put them at risk.
01:00About me. That's your spin, I guess, for your next campaign commercial. I don't know.
01:05How many American troops have been killed in the Iran war?
01:10In these ongoing operations, 18.
01:12Okay. Now, President Trump has repeatedly stated that Iran's military was obliterated.
01:18On March 16th, President Trump stated that Iran's military was, quote, literally obliterated, end quote.
01:27How is it possible that 482 American troops have been wounded and 18 service members killed
01:38by a Iranian military that's been purportedly obliterated?
01:44The Iranian Navy, Air Force, Air Defense system and industrial capacity have been massively damaged, if not completely ineffective.
01:54But this is a state that is trying to reconstitute.
01:57This is a state, a regime that is obsessed with a nuclear weapon.
02:01And it's a regime that still maintains some missile and drone capability that it's firing on all of its neighbors,
02:07including our bases.
02:10I think that's a pretty common sense evaluation.
02:13But if I need to explain it to you further, I can.
02:16You need to explain to American people how an Iranian military that's been purportedly obliterated killed 18-year service members
02:25and wounded 482 service members.
02:26As you know, seven of those service members died in a plane crash.
02:29Let me finish my question.
02:31And has struck multiple U.S. facilities in the Middle East repeatedly.
02:38So I'm going to show you a video from Jordan.
02:41And this is an Iranian strike.
02:44And if we could play the video, that would be great.
03:04I would hope the Republican-controlled Foreign Affairs Committee would know how to use audio next time.
03:08But we did see the video.
03:10And it showed multiple missiles hitting this base in Jordan.
03:16Let me tell you what happened.
03:19It was disclosed later that two U.S. troops died in that strike from a purportedly obliterated Iranian military.
03:27And this is what Donald Trump said.
03:31He said that the Iranians, quote, did slip something through in Jordan.
03:35And if we had other operators, it would not have happened.
03:39He then went on to say, when you let other people do your job, with the United States, we let
03:43other people do a job.
03:44And sometimes it doesn't work out so well.
03:47So let me ask you this question.
03:50Do we still have American troops stationed in Jordan right now?
03:53It doesn't surprise me that you're referring to Al Jazeera in terms of your video.
04:02I'm here as the U.N. ambassador, but I'm happy to refer you to Pete Hegseth, Secretary Hegseth's testimony yesterday.
04:10And your opening statement, you bragged about doing a Security Council resolution on Iran.
04:17So, yes, Iran is in your job responsibility.
04:19Focus on it and focus on the troops that have been wounded and killed.
04:23Do not be so callous with the safety and lies of American troops.
04:26I'm going to ask you again, are U.S. troops currently stationed in Jordan?
04:35Are U.S. troops currently stationed in Jordan?
04:37Try to get reelected.
04:40I will.
04:41You should try.
04:42November is coming for you and this administration.
04:45Are U.S. troops stationed in Jordan?
04:46It's not even a trick question.
04:48Are they?
04:48Of course they are.
04:49Okay.
04:50And if Donald Trump doesn't trust the Jordanians to protect U.S. troops, do you trust them?
04:57Who are we going to have to protect U.S. troops?
04:59They are exposed right now in the Middle East.
05:01He's repeatedly being exposed to Iranian missiles and missile strikes and drones.
05:06You don't even know how many U.S. troops were wounded in this Iran war.
05:10Shame on you for not even knowing basic facts.
05:13You are the U.S. ambassador and you don't even know how many U.S. troops were wounded in Iran
05:19war.
05:19You got that wrong.
05:21You should be shameful.
05:22You don't know basic facts.
05:23You should resign.
05:25You don't even care about the number of U.S. troops that were wounded.
05:28You did not know how many U.S. troops were wounded.
05:31You gave false information to Congress.
05:34You should be ashamed of yourself for not even knowing how many U.S. troops were wounded in the Iranian
05:39war.
05:39The gentleman's words should be taken down.
05:42You should not use such derogatory language for the distinguished ambassador.
05:48Seriously, I know you're upset.
05:50Nothing in the last administration.
05:52Zero.
05:53Politics and the worst of it.
05:55He lied to Congress.
