Most Dangerous Road
Khaltaro Valley is a pristine, off-the-beaten-path destination within the greater Haramosh Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Located about 75 to 100 km east of Gilgit, it is celebrated for the "Seven Waterfalls," Khun Meadows, and the challenging Rakhan Gali Pass, though reaching it requires navigating a notoriously steep and narrow jeep track.
Access begins at the Sassi junction on the main Gilgit-Skardu Road. From here, a rugged, high-altitude 4x4 track winds towards the valley. The journey from the main road to the village takes approximately 2 hours and features steep, thrilling drops that demand an experienced driver.
• The Seven Cascades: A major natural attraction featuring seven consecutive waterfalls located about a 2 to 3-hour trek from the main camping area.
• Khun Meadows: A lush alpine meadow situated near the Darchan Glacier, accessible via a 4-to-6-hour scenic trek from the waterfall viewpoint.
• Rakhan Gali Pass: For experienced trekkers, this challenging pass offers an adventurous route to the neighboring Bagrote Valley.
• Solitude & Exploration: Unlike the neighboring Kutwal Valley, Khaltaro receives very few tourists, offering an untouched, peaceful, and remote trekking experience.

• Facilities: The valley is highly remote. You should carry all essential camping gear, food, and sufficient water, as local facilities and supplies are limited.
• Best Time to Visit: The summer months from June to September are ideal for trekking and safely navigating the high-altitude passes
