00:15In nature, the ancestors of these chickens would have laid about 15 eggs in a year.
00:22Now they lay 250, 300.
00:24What that does to the chicken's body, that unnatural egg production,
00:29all that calcium loss, the resulting osteoporosis, the bone breakage,
00:34I mean, that is all before we even put her in a cage.
00:38And, you know, the so-called broiler chickens, the ones used for meat,
00:42these animals, they end up becoming so top-heavy, so fast these days,
00:47in such a short amount of time,
00:49so that the farmer doesn't have to, can get them to slaughter as quick as possible.
00:54We talk of chicken as if nature has put them below us
01:00and they belong to our jurisdiction, as if they are creatures of our choice.
01:05They are sovereign, they are independent, just as we are.
01:07Forget killing them.
01:08We don't even have the right to breed them.
01:12Please consider a typical middle-class household in India
01:16because they have unexamined selves and unexamined desires.
01:22They want their son to attend a personality development class,
01:27an English-speaking class, coding class, a dance class, a tennis class, right?
01:33And this fellow is like 8, 9, or some 10 years old.
01:36And he has become very top-heavy.
01:39Same thing.
01:40Exactly the same thing.
01:42Because the agency is the same.
01:45You are not feeding the chicken because you are compassionate.
01:49You are feeding it not for its sake.
01:51And look at why you are feeding your own kids also,
01:53so that tomorrow you can get something in return.
01:55I'll exploit this bird here, and I'll also exploit this baby here.
02:00Tomorrow I'll demand returns from the chicken.
02:03I'll calculate ROI.
02:04There is a leisure always open.
02:07And sometimes if it's a girl, we even resort to honor killing.
02:12We didn't raise you so that you tomorrow decide to live life on your own terms.
